Oscar was never that good above 147. His best win was a faded Vargas. And even that fight was extremely rough for him. It actually looked like he might get knocked out early. Oscar gets props cause he fought everyone. But he lost all his biggest fights. He would def have issues with canelo's size at 154. And at 160 canelo most likely knocks him out to the body.
Felix Sturm clearly beat him at 160 before he fought b hop. At 154 it would be a very close fight. At 160 that fight would turn brutal for Oscar. Canelo was bigger. Stronger. And Better defensively. And Oscars stamina at 154 and 160 was probably just as trash as canelo's.
I have to disagree both Sturm and Hopkins had an effective jab of their own and weren't shabby on the reach department, both could box too, and neither were midgets. Canelo with the height disadvantage
would have to get close to Oscar and might get stopped by Oscar's own body attack as he would BBQ your ribs with both hands. Canelo's defense is a bit overrated, head movement is good but his body is there all day, and he isnt fleet of foot enough to get away. Canelo's jab is non existent as well. He would have to be Floyd physically/skill wise at his height to mess with Oscar. I think Oscar trains better for Canelo as he looked fat against Sturm (took that L too imo).
As far as Hopkins, he was getting whooped until he landed the perfect body shot which would take out 90% of folks, probably would have folded Canelo too.
