I'll list every factor on why this was a super fight and what made it into a super fight.

1. Casual Buzz
2. Jake Paul's emergence
3. 2022 being the biggest year for Women's boxing ever
4. Bud n Spence not happening
5. Canelo vs GGG trilogy taking so long to happen (especially the 3rd fight)
6. Floyd vs Pac taking damn near 5 yrs to happen
7. Canelo not giving fans a fight that they wanted on time since 2018
8. Canelo not fighting Benavidez yet

All that shyt played a factor into making Tank/Garcia into a super fight. They pretty much stepped up when nobody would and this won't be the last time it happens either.

Belts don't matter as much as ya'll think they do to the casuals. They care about the fights, not the belts.
You speaking gospel here, they not gonna understand this because they are too set in their ways to see why this was a big fight and more importantly why this was the most important fight boxing has had in years.

People are tired of the old way of 'ok we both gotta go get belts, rack up title defenses and unifications in multiple weight classes and then when we are 30+ we'll fight.' I would say Jake Paul and womens boxing killed that, but in reality Floyd Mayweather started the whole 'fukk a belt' trend when he would beat nikkas and then immediately drop the belt he won so as to not pay sanctioning body fees. It took a lot of prestige away from the belts and honestly it needed to happen given how corrupt we all know they are.

This fight was the most important fight for the sport since... hell honestly I can't remember. May-Pac and Canelo-GGG weren't as important as this one will end up being once a little time passes. I had/have people calling me, who NEVER talk about boxing talking about this fight, asking me who are Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson(yes this fight is gonna help both of them nikkas careers because now they are tied to Tank and it will bring them viewers, they high key need to thank Tank), asking me what are the good fights coming up.

This board is a group of hardcore fans who came up in a different era of boxing and they aren't really looking at the reality of the NECESSARY changes the sport is gonna have to make if it wants to come back to prominence like it was from the 60's to 00's. These are a new era of fans who came up watching Jake Paul just fight people, win or lose, and they paid for it. They actually care about womens boxing, and in one year they got 3 womens mega fights... two of them on the same damn card, and NONE of the fights disappointed. Meanwhile mens boxing is on a 'one hot album every 10 year average' LAME shyt.

Whether you want to admit it or not @LauderdaleBoss is right. This became the big fight boxing needed because Spence-Crawford fizzled out, Canelo refuses to fight Benavidez and instead wants to rematch Bivol a fight which nobody was asking for in the first place and nobody(except his stans) thinks he has a chance of winning the rematch, and Fury-Usyk also fizzled out.

I'm glad Tank-Garcia happened, while the buzz for it was still hot and NO BELTS ON THE LINE. Time will show Ryan will still go on to make a lot of money and have a lucrative career. Because of this fight we may get Haney-Stevenson and Ennis-Ortiz Jr. BEFORE they turn 30 now. This was a GREAT fight for boxing if you actually love the sport and want it to be better, and plenty of old legends have been saying the exact same thing. fukk them belts, just fight.

Lowkey Tank/Garcia put Spence/Crawford to shame.

And if Canelo don't fight Benavidez in by next year, Tank might take his spot as the biggest draw in boxing

Spence and Crawford are both being rightfully viewed as a joke right now by pretty much everybody. fukk the blame game, both of them are being drug through the mud right now and they both should.

As far as the bolded as much as his stans won't wanna hear this the dice have already been thrown on it. Canelo has never been a universally loved or wanted 'face of boxing' like they would have you believe. His super fans can come in here and tell me whatever they want, I work around a bunch of Mexicans every single day, not American Mexicans either actual crossed the border Mexicans. Most of them do not fukk with Canelo like that, and are looking and waiting for ANYBODY to come along they can get behind and leave him behind they support Canelo because he is literally the best option they have right now and they will always have a ' support Mexico' policy, not because he is loved. Mexican Americans fukk with Canelo more than native Mexicans. Mexicans loved JCC, they loved Erik Morales, they loved Juan Manuel Marquez, they loved Marco Antonio Barrera, they don't love Canelo.

Canelo has been chasing that European money and has been alienating his core fanbase for a long time not giving them the fights they are asking him for. Fans aren't putting up with that anymore, they are tired of telling fighters who they want to see them fight and then the fighters fight anybody but them. These new generation of fans, the fans who are bringing boxing back to relevance the Gen Z fans, grew up with the UFC where they don't have to wait more than a year for a fight they want, they won't tolerate this anymore from anyone. Boxing is going to have to evolve the way it does business if it wants to actually compete and grow going forward. Tank-Garcia was a great fight to start that.

See that's where it all falls apart. How is it a big fight when we know one of the fighters ain't ready for that spot? It's basically saying "fukk you" to development. Let's chase the paper and the limelight.

Now if that's what the fighter wants to do then cool. Get your money. But they can't keep ducking the best of the becauseb they're the Face Of Boxing. How long you think the PBC employees we have in here will be able to defend that shyt? :heh:
this is exactly why tank vs garcia didn't work for me because it took a couple of years for this to happen...they didn't accomplish much in the interim when it was picking up steam..and on top of that there's still questions on both trajectories after this..ryan garcia got outclassed like i thought he would and i wasn't impressed with not one real accomplishment in his career to even cut him some slack because he ducked smoke...some super fight...im positive this fight wont end up as a top 10 fight of the year :heh:...its nice that ryan vs tank put more eyes on the sport but as i kept saying..the b levels are carrying the sport..there have been at least 6-7 fights that are legit fight of the years in the first 4 months of 2023..so if you didnt watch any of those and think this year of boxing has been dull or trash but were excited for ryan vs tank..that doesnt compute to me

Because you aren't the target audience they are going for Pat, we keep trying to explain that to you. :heh:

Casuals keep the lights on, not hardcores. It doesn't matter if there have been more competitive fights than this one(which to all of us except @Agent Mulder it was obvious what was gonna happen once they actually fought we been knew Ryan wasn't on Tanks level) this one had the most buzz. You gotta stop thinking so close minded and realize this is a new era, winning belts in 4 or 5 weight classes or being unified/undisputed isn't that big of a deal to the new fans who watch the sport. They just wanna see fights that they actually want to see, not who they are TOLD they should want to see.

im sorry bro but no

may-pac - p4p fighters to see who is number one at 147
ggg-canelo - p4p fighters to see who is number one at 160
ryan-tank - ??????

when it comes to the best fight of this year made its easily monster vs cool boy - they got past the politics, they are p4p fighters, they have previous and notable accomplishments...this will prolly decide who is the best at 122, the crowd will be bigger than ryan vs tank and i dont have to pay 85 bucks for it

and its def not proven that ryan garcia will go on to make money after this..hell we should be wondering if this mfr will end up being shyt in his boxing career :dead:...this more eyes on the sport youre talking about..if thats the case...lets see if the PBC showtime cards or TR cards will show a stimulus of some sort from all these eyes on the sport :heh:

You not looking at it from the same perspective. All you care about is belts and P4P list. Tank and Ryan was an event bro. Fulton and Inoue... nobody is even talking about that fight let's keep it real here Pat, post me one segment that fight had on ESPN or FS1 it got coverage... don't worry I'll wait. You high key sound like you want this fight to fail even though this fight is going to end up helping the sport more than hurting it. You have an old mindset about it Pat, I'm waking up to the realities of how the sport has changed.

well i cared a lot about nery vs crazy a..no belts on the line no p4p shyt...and that delivered in spades...it is the best fight of this year...i cared for benavidez vs plant...and that one i knew plant was going to get his ass kicked..on top of that the overall card was better which i put in on at a fight party..dont try to pigeonhole what i believe as set examples...i consume way too much boxing for that lol

Keep your standards I'm not telling you to change them, I'm just telling you they don't care about your standards and they are gonna start openly rejecting them here in the future. You may not be a boxing fan in the future because of where things are going, they gonna do what they wanna do with or without you.

...its nice that ryan vs tank put more eyes on the sport but as i kept saying..the b levels are carrying the sport.

underrated point. Half these casuals are really just fans of the moment, it has no trinkle down effect to the rest of the sport. So many dudes I know that use to buy Mayweather and Manny PPVs don't even follow the sport anymore. Half the people texting me asking if I'm going get the Tank fight can't even name Tank last 5 opponents and won't care about his next 5 if they are of the Hector Garcia or Cruz variety. I need to understand how Jake Pauling the game is going to be beneficial to the sport besides putting money into the hands of a handful of fighters. To your point remember when Jake Paul was supposed to have a trinkle down effect for Showtime/PBC :dead:

exactly we have nikkas talking about spending big money to go these type of fights because they are "events" or whatever reason...do you spend money to go to smaller cards to support as well? right now there is no long term projection for growth in this sport that you can take seriously because the trickle down effect has not happened...the only things i see are deviations like that influencer boxing garbage or bare knuckle boxing (dont mind it) or nikka putting chalk on their hands trying to win the open hand championship of the world

It would trickle down to boxing if boxing simply did what every other combat sport has learned to do... GIVE FANS THE FIGHTS THEY WANT WHEN THEY WANT THEM. :heh:

What part about that is so hard to understand Pat? That is what is in the big elephant in the room in the sports way.

Even WWE had to start paying attention to the guys they usually cast out and ignored after a while because the fans weren't happy with the product and they didn't support it with their dollars.
