To me, Roy at his absolute physical peak to was around Merqui Sosa & Reggie Johnson (with Johnson being another very good win because he damn near beat Tarver). If they had stopped after 3, I would have that as the best trilogy ever for consistent action and close competition. All 3 fights were excellent.
2 of the top 3 wins are James Toney and John Ruiz. The 3rd? Maybe beating Bernard Hopkins? Both guys were still relatively green. Otherwise it would easily by one of the top. Gutting out a tough win over Antonio Tarver in the first fight? Virgil Hill body shot?
I thought him at his peak might have been Bryant Brannon. Not one of his best wins due to opposition level, but just in terms of him at his best. It was like his version of Muhammad Ali-Cleveland Williams.
That right hand he handed off the ropes against Sosa was one of the fastest shots I've ever seen; including the 2 piece he dropped Reggie Johnson with. It'll be a long time till another athlete like Roy comes around
