@patscorpio

Bro, this vid cherry picked spots where Spence was able to dodge some of Porter's wild telegraphed shots lol. Spence got lit up & there's no debating this. I don't know if dude's trying to use this to spin it otherwise but this fight is a bad example of Spence using good defense in a fight :heh:

Spence biggest enemy is the straight right (surprise, surprise) and himself.

The Garcia fight you could tell he was in trash shape for his standards.

But you're right, he wasn't ready for that version of Porter, truth be told i don't think many fighters would have been that night. He was on.

Top line Spence has a v02 max/ lactate threshold that rivals any in the business.

Takes just enough off the shots to be able to throw a really impressive number of big shots, again and again, round after round, even in the latter stages of the fight (his biggest strength right there, latter half.)

I hope he retires before his max heart rate starts to fail him and he loses his best attributes.

Spence is the guy, without a doubt. But i got Crawford if that fight had eventuated.

Small extract below.

'We chat for the next half an hour or so, and I learn that he’s been staying busy with making new music since attempting to leave the island. It turns out that, in addition to being one of the best boxers in the world, Andy is a popular rapper in Cuba, and his songs play at the bar every now and then. I ask him about Tokyo as well as his rivalry with Keyshawn Davis, but Andy quickly corrects me. ‘There is no rivalry campeón. I beat him four times.’ He pretends to rock a baby in his arms and says that Davis is his son, which draws laughter from the table. ‘They were great fights. I rewatch the Olympic final pretty often’ I tell him. Andy’s playful expression turns serious all of a sudden. ‘Do you have it on your phone?’ he asks, and I load the fight up from my YouTube channel to show him. ‘I haven’t watched this back before. There is no way to see it in Cuba.’ His eyes are glued to the screen like a captivated child, pausing the video every now and then to play a particular sequence back, and when the decision is announced Andy lets out a smile as the elation of winning gold comes flooding back to him. ‘Thank you, hermano. Muy appreciado.’'

Munguia is the worst, most protected fighter in boxing. Garcia and Tank stepped up to a similar level so far but Tank has been around longer so it's a worse look at him.
Shiiiiit, i don't know about that.

I'll cop it here, im sure. But hear me out. Yes, Munguia is protected, but he's only been at Middleweight since 2020/Covid. At Middleweight he doesn't have hands really all the way. At Super-Welter he did.

He's had 40 fights and he's 26, not sure you can be protected completely if you had 40 fights and you're 26. Sure, many bums, but so does GGG, Charlo, Andrade, Wilder, Crawford, R Garcia etc. List goes on.

They're careful at Middleweight, i agree there, but Middleweight you will get your head blown off if you are young and not naturally made/aged/ready for the weight.

It's too much, I would hold off on criticizing him if he was stepping up consistently but if anything he's fighting worse opponents now than when he was just 22. He's not a small guy at 160 and he had 6 fights there, that's no more an excuse.
They put this guy in a position to be mandatory multiple times and he turned it down each time, embarrassing shyt. They didn't want it with Boo Boo, Charlo, Alimkhanuly, Adames...

At a point they gotta accept that dude's ceiling just isn't super high, he never gonna be a fighter that they can confidently put in there with the top 5, now they either let him sink or swim or what they do instead is they are waiting for a belt that gets vacated and if the next in the rankings isn't that dangerous they will go for that, trying to milk dude as a 2 division world champion and keep avoiding anybody that can beat him. Fighting subpar opponents over and over won't gain him recognition though so what's the point.

Yeah but how many are fighting Charlo, Andrade and Alimkhanuly? Nobody is fighting Alimkhanuly, like nobody is. He is the real boogieman. And how do we know it wasn’t both sides fukkery, networks, promoter negotiations etc?

At the end of the day I’m not caping for Munguia here. But I don’t see him as all that different to the other protected boxers in all the weight divisions.

I think he has exceptional symmetry from either side of the body for his left and right side shots, and perhaps the best natural, flat footed balance I’ve seen the last decade.

He takes too many big shots, imo that’s why they match make the shyt outta his fights. Someone at my old gym told me he has serious head issues already (and this was 2019 he told me this.)

Anyway, he will probably get Floyd’s 51 -0 the rate he is going lol. The grimy way.
