There's this myth that fighters going on DAZN are disappearing from the public eye cause they are on an app.

Disagree, their social media following and engagement shyts on the competitors' and that's with DAZN starting the latest out of them. They are lauded for their long highlights and talking about boxing as a whole rather than just the fighters that appear on their platform. Others started to do that too lately and I'm glad they did but still not to an extent DAZN is doing it.

Besides there's zero proof that a fighter that has been on FOX or even ESPN, platforms with a lot longer (American) reach would be producing bigger stars in comparison to those appearing DAZN or Showtime, the two "smaller". I used the quotation signs cause DAZN is present in many countries so depends on what we mean smaller. Smaller in the US. Showtime will branch out now as well with SkyShowtime launching in many countries this year, including mine and I hope they will include Showtime's boxing programming there.

Munguia, Ortiz, Garcia, Canelo, AJ, Usyk, Okolie, and others haven't lost steam by fighting on DAZN. Doubt that Haney or Andrade would be in a tough spot because DAZN either. Andrade is a classic high-risk low-reward spoiler and despite many ppl shytting on him, it doesn't look like these dudes would be keen to fight Haney either (still got two decent fights recently) Haney still got time though, Andrade not so much. If I'd criticize someone here that would be Hearn and the guys that are ducking these 2.

It might be legit to critic DAZN for their shoulder programming (a lot of programs dedicated to boxing as a whole though and those also serve as short of a shoulder programming) and their whack US announcing team but nothing backs the theory that they would be some graveyard of fighters so far.

If Caleb Plant was a DAZN fighter does he N Canelo sell 800k PPV??

or was Plants 2m v Truax 1.8M Feginbutz 1.4M Lee… pretty damn helpful in giving him a name :stopitslime:

You think any of them DAZN nikkas that isn’t Canelo or a Heavyweight that you named Is bringing in 1.4 M viewers when they fight:russ:

Tszyu also listed on the PBC website, did he sign?
Tim Tszyu - Next Fight, Fighter Bio, Stats & News

Would be a smart move if he's planning to stay at 154 for a few years at least cause at 154 PBC still holds the cards. Also good that he doesn't jump into a Charlo fight immediately but gets Gausha. If he's moving up to 160 like in a year that's different cause PBC at 160 is putrid especially if Charlo moves to 168 now. :patrice:
But Tszyu looks like a normal sized 154er to me, I think he can make weight for some time:ld:

And Cota... smh, how many more times will we have to see someone mopping the canvas with him before they won't call him again? They must be kidding, they are DEEP in 154 surely they could use someone else.

The thing is though, he hasn’t done everything to promote Andrade. Where is Andrade’a 40 Days doc on DAZN? They haven’t released a training camp doc for Andrade since he signed in 2018. For a MW champ that’s unheard of. For comparison’s sake, In the same time Jermall Charlo has had the following produced.

-PBC Countdown, PBC Face to Face for the FOX Debut
-FOX special on the Charlo Twins
-2 separate All Access’s on Showtime (2020 and 2021)
-A Charlo twin doc on Showtime before their PPV

DAZN hasn’t had anything for Andrade. The man is at the other side of his career and has yet to have one proper training camp doc. That’s the bare minimum and they have failed. Same goes with Haney.

When people say DAZN is bad for boxing, THIS is why. This type of lack of promotion and lack of emphasis on fighters is going to drive the sport even more underground. That type of promotion works and is the absolute minimum a fighter of Andrade’s level and personality deserves.

People know more about Mario Barrios and Isaac Cruz than Boo Boo because they were on Showtime All Access. I have friends that are casuals that actually want to check for those two based on that alone! (It’s funny because Barrios was also on the Thurman Countdown and promo!!)

agree with all of this

plus not having any type of special programming for Andrade after that pay day moment with Canelo was a missed opportunity because his name was buzzing hard after that. He should have had something leading up to the Quigley fight.

Eddie Hearn and DAZN are synonymous in North America. I wouldn’t defend either in this. The severe lack of content is clear as day.

You can’t expect anyone to sell anything when nobody knows something is even happening or who the person is.

While you're not 100% wrong, you're talking about something that is a systemic issue in boxing, and tying it to one promoter. TR, GB, Matchroom, PBC all have virtually the same results----regardless of the type of promotion. But this is more into the business than the sport side of boxing =non important

Did Canelo's profile raise while he was fighting on DAZN? It did...
So did Munguia's, Ortiz's, etc.
I didn't argue that it's capable of making significantly bigger stars than its competitors but definitely doesn't look like they would be a graveyard where fighters disappear from the public eye.

all of this cuz in the end...theres only a handful of fighters that move any needle...and none of them are American

DAZN needs to get better with shoulder programming for GB and Matchroom
PBC needs to do something more because clearly their shoulder programming hasnt raised anyone's profile since Broner fell off
TR will probably have to wait until Old Man Bob croaks sad to say
