Yildirum was a mandatory, didn't really want that fight but needed to take it to keep the belt. Makabu isn't a nobody, he's one of the Cruiserweight champions, the reason they considered that fight was the weight jump, Makabu isn't an amazingly skilled fighter but he does have 25 stoppages at Cruisweight, the weight jump was the potential appeal not the fighter.
None of this post really makes any sense or is right, as I said people can have their personal opinions but you can't say Bivol who is a champion in a higher weight class and considered the 1st or 2nd best with Beterviev is some kind of cherry pick, it's not. Whoever Canelo fought would have got criticism from people who wanted him to fight others, all the 4 fights weren't bad fights, the only fight I wasn't as keen on was Charlo as I think it was too easy of a win for Canelo. It doesn't really sound like you're familiar with the fighters and just wanted him to take a certain deal or go with a certain company.
Of course Bivol is an A list fighter in his weight class (a higher one than is natural for Canelo) how can he not be when he's the champion and has beaten one of the other champions comfortably already? Again not true, loads of people were asking Canelo to fight Bivol or Beterviev, when he fought Kovalev people were asking why is he not fighting Bivol or Beterviev, that was something widely heard that he picked the lesser fighter, now he's fighting one of the very top Light Heavyweights. It is a big fight of course, not because Bivol is the biggest star in the world but because he's one of the top fighters and champion at the higher weight class. Benavidez isn't a big star either yet. Bivol is just at a higher weight class and some very credible wins too.
Do I think Canelo will win? Yes, ideally I would have liked to have seen Beterviev cause of his power but Bivol isn't a joke of a fighter at all, he can step it up and has real skill. That combined with the higher weight makes it interesting. Bivol is a better technical boxer than Beterbiev but Beterbiev has more power.
He hasn't really done anything wrong here, if he took either deal I wouldn't be mad at it as all fighters are legit, but I do think out of those 4 at the moment as a challenge Bivol potentially brings the most to the table, in his prime and current world champion with extensive amateur experience too.
