Undefeated lightweight contender Michel “La Zarza Ali” Rivera (22-0) has signed a pact with influential advisor/manager Al Haymon, sources told BoxingScene.com.

The 23-year-old Dominican Republic native was last in action in October when he won a lopsided decision over Jose Matias Romero. He has been a staple of Premier Boxing Champions’ telecasts over the past three years on both Showtime and FOX networks.

His promoter Sampson Lewkowicz works closely with Haymon and has several fighters fighting under the PBC umbrella.

Rivera burst onto the scene in 2020 when he stopped rugged veteran Fidel Maldonado Jr. in 10 rounds. In addition to Romero, he also holds victories over the likes of Jon Fernandez, Ladarius Miller, and Juan Rene Tellez.

The sources also said that Rivera will return to the ring on a date in February. The date and opponent is expected to be announced soon.

If all goes according to his team’s plan, Rivera will have a breakout year in 2022. He is currently training in Las Vegas for his ring return.

Rivera is ranked in the top fifteen by all four major sanctioning bodies and likely will be fighting for a world title in the near future.

Haymon’s list of clients includes several of the biggest names in the sport. Names such as Errol Spence, Deontay Wilder, Andy Ruiz, Danny Garcia, Jermell and Jermall Charlo, and many others.

Naw wasn’t a duck..one fighter got a track record of fighting good fighters and another’s best win is an old Ortiz and then in 3 fights with Fury, still won less rounds than Otto Wallin did..

It was all politics I know it’s hard to be objective in here but that’s all it was. The fact that DAZN was non PPV so it was hard to do a joint PPV.

Visiting Spadafora just days out from the Pittsburgh man’s first defence of his IBF lightweight world championship, Mayweather was given six rounds with the champion as a warm up.
But he got worked over so badly by the sharp world champion that he tried quitting in the fourth round, but Spadafora’s trainer, Jesse Reid, said no.
“It’s the reason he’s never out of shape,” Spadafora’s legendary trainer Reid said some years later.
And [why] he never lets people tape his sparring.”
Of course, there’s no shame in coming up short against a world champion in his gym. Mayweather had only been a professional for two years and wasn’t in shape. Spadafora, meanwhile, was 49-1-1 with his only loss coming in his penultimate fight and the draw in a world title unification fight.
Describing what unfolded in the sparring session to FightHype, Reid continued: “[Mayweather’s] nose is bleeding and that eye looks like it’s swelling up, and he keeps crackin ’em.
“Finally in the fourth round Mayweather comes to me and asks me if he can get out of the ring because he says he’s tired.
