Canelo/Bivol is waaaaay more interesting to me than Plant

My interest is about even on the both of em. Neither has been fighting the type of recent opps to make a Canelo fight a bigger event.

Both have real good jabs, but Plant has much better footwork, which is an additional problem from Canelo to solve.

plant also throws a different jab than bivol. how canelo fights big guys is he gets under the jab. watch him against kovalev, he is going under the jab. he has a move that he goes to when he walks down bigger fighters where he leans in with his thumbs on his temples and gets low, like this.

he does that a lot when he dips that head forward and gets low. watch him against kovalev it let him get under the jab all night because the kovalev jab was level. plant throws a different jab - an up jab.

that jab is coming up from the hip, not level, or a jab coming down from a bigger man. so that, if you lean in, if you dip down and get low, its going to come up from the hip and meet you.

i really wanted to see how canelo adapted to the plant up jab. the bivol jab i think i know what he will do, because he did it against the kovalav jab which was the same jab. i will say this about the kovalev jab, because he put it out on canelo all night, that if he had a jab with some movement, that it would have been a lot harder to deal with him that night to your point that thats just not who kovalev is and thats not who bivol is.

Canelo coming right over the top of that jab and hurting plant with straight rights or coming inside with straight lefts just like Uzi did. Plant is more style over substance. Looks spectacular in YouTube highlight videos but when you actually sit down and watch him fight you realize he's simply not an A level guy. Those flashy moments are few and far between. If an average guy like Uzi can put hands on him like that canelo will have no issue getting him outta there. His style gets predictable after a few rounds and he cuts way too easily to last the distance with canelo. He's a much easier fight for canelo than bivol. :yeshrug:

what i will say about a jose uzcategui and canelo alvarez comparison is that he is a high motor guy and that makes a guy like caleb plant work a little more than he really wants to. canelo can hit him with that counter, but a slow, low volume, loading up one big shot at a time type of fight, is more of a caleb plant type of pace and type of fight.

Agreed
Shramba Mitchell threw one of the best up jabs I've ever seen. shyt was sharp and quick.

But yeah, Kovalev and Jacobs pushed their jabs a lot too, its easier to walk down and get under those types of jabs. He couldn't really do that against GGG tho.
Bivol also throws too many arm punches. He makes up for it with volume and its not easy to push him around, but I think once Canelo realizes no real heat is gonna come, he starts countering Bivol to death.

Plant's power is deceptive tho. He'll catch you with something you don't see way before Kovalev, Jacobs, and Bivols would, even though their regarded as the harder punchers.
