Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte, who holds the WBC's 'interim' title, may potentially face undefeated Jermaine Franklin in a fight that would take place in the United States, according to Sky Sports.

Whyte has not fought in the United States since 2017, when he stopped Malcolm Tann.

Franklin (20-0, 13 KOs) has been out of the ring since October of 2019, when he picked up a ten round decision win over Pavel Sour.

Whyte was in action earlier this year, when avenged a 2020 knockout loss by stopping Alexander Povetkin in their rematch.

Following that fight, Whyte's promoter, Eddie Hearn, had mentioned the scenario of having his fighter compete in the United States in the summer. Hearn recently mentioned a tentative date of August 28 for Whyte's next fight.

Franklin discussed the possibility of facing Whyte earlier this year - and he appears confident in his ability to expose what he believes are defense flaws in the British fighter.

"It's the punches that he leaves himself open for, that's why he has the two defeats by knockout," said Franklin to Sky Sports.

"Povetkin caught him with an uppercut. We know that's a real hard punch to be able to take from a puncher. Certain times he gets caught with certain punches.

"I don't want to say he has a glass chin, because he took some shots, but if you can catch him at the right time, at the right moments though, you will have a great effect on him."

Both Whyte are Franklin are looking to stay busy while the entire division plays out, with WBC champion Tyson Fury facing Deontay Wilder next month and WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO champion Anthony Joshua taking on mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk in September.

Jermaine Franklin...stay busy shyt...not excited about this fight at all

Prime vs Prime I got Mike.

He was way more active and more elusive. Lewis was always a threat to any heavyweight (height and punching power). His Achilles heel always being his chin. I see this as a replay of Smith vs Tyson. Tyson by UD

They plan to fight Plant in September (we all knew), negotiations with Al Haymon have started.
They want to defend 168 at least once if they win in September (Benavidez?).
They want to fight Bivol either at 168, catchweight for all 168 belts and Bivol's 175 belt or light heavyweight, it doesn't matter.
He also names Beterbiev but he makes more emphasis in Bivol (I think because Beterbiev is most likely fighting Joe Smith Jr.) but they want to unify 175.
He says that they are not going to fight at 160 ever again, not even 164 catchweight, the only possible scenario where Canelo could cut below 168 is for a Spence fight at 164 catchweight, not even 160 for Spence. If Charlo or Golovkin want the fight they have to move up to 168.
They plan to fight in February in a Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico stadium. That's the plan and even if that doesn't happen they want to fight in February.

That's good. Canelo will have to kill himself to make 160. He been at 168 too long now. Gonna fukk around and go out like Roy Jones if he tries to go back to Middleweight.

no way Canelo can adequately sniff 160 anymore. Unify with Plant, beat Bivol, then undisputed at 175 with the Beterbiev/Smith winner.
