Unpopular opinion.. jack Johnson as great as he is drew the color line against his own race once he got the title. That may drop him in rankings as far as all time heavyweights to be honest:francis:
The money was in smacking around whites in the ring. Even before that he had wins against top black fighters

Yeah but back then some like Sam Langford was 156 and not heavyweight ready.
Part of why I say this because mcvea jeanette who were underrated unfortunately didn't get a shot
When Johnson won the title he drew the color line against his own people " - Joe Jeannette.
Johnson path to the title was hard as hell though no lie and you right about the demand but still...

That's true. And it seems the major promoters were not for it. When he beat jeffries there was a racist riot and several people died :picard:
