Daniel Jacobs Eye Jermall Charlo: That's a Big Fight, I Don't See Why It Can't Happen

Former middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs is still very much interested in a showdown with Jermall Charlo, who holds the WBC world title at 160-pounds.

"That’s one of the fights that I want as far as my legacy fights. I do see that as a big fight, and its been brewing for a long time so I don’t see why it can’t happen," Jacobs told the Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer.

Jacobs fought back in December, at the super middleweight limit, where he barely overcame Gabe Rosado with a close twelve round split decision.

Charlo will be in action next month, when he makes a voluntary defense against Juan Macias Montiel.

Jacobs was recently spotted with former trainer Andre Rozier and admits there is a possibility of getting back together. The two had a bad falling out over a financial dispute a few years ago.

"Anything is possible, we’re just working on our relationship, we trained one time which is cool, just to be back in that good company I love it. That spark has been something I’ve been missing and I’m just looking forward to building on that," Jacobs said.

Jacobs reveals that he's only looking for the biggest names and he doesn't care about their network or promotional affiliation.

Outside of Charlo, Jacobs has interest in a rematch with IBF middleweight champion Gennadiy Golovkin.

"It would be solidified if I was to become a two-division belt holder. I think it would also be solidified if I fight the key names (Charlo, GGG rematch) and look spectacular, or have an Arturo Gatti/Mikey Ward type fight. I’m down for all of that," Jacobs said.

Jacobs' last two contests took place at the super middleweight limit of 168, so it's unknown if his body is still capable of making the middleweight limit.

Jacobs vs Charlo

2 years ago I’d have given Jacobs a good chance here cause he can box, he’s tricky, can cause Charlo all kind of problems. As of now though? Jacobs looked like a B-/C+ fighter in his last 2 outings. He may get back his hunger to a Charlo fight but his recent form doesn’t promise any good for him.
