Yeah this is a “point of my career where I have to face tougher competition” crisis he is going through and can’t handle the pressure.

my guess is he read/saw all the criticism he got for the luke campbell fight...there was a lot of it...you stop someone the likes of linares and lomachenko couldnt with a bullshyt ass interim title of course you cant really go back to the comp he had prior...he wants to be a star you gotta do star things in the ring including taking on the legit champion of the interim belt you hold..a fight thats buzzing pretty loudly
