I disagree. Boxing was on a roll before the pandemic, big fights were not only being made, but also selling fairly well.

Boxing's perceived lack of popularity is to a certain extent overblown. The 3 major promoters have each secured three different major platforms for THEMSELVES. If boxing was in the shytter, we would be watching Fury Wilder 2 at 11PM on Spike TV or some shyt, but we don't. We see them on FOX, ESPN and Showtime.

Boxing is also one of the main driving forces behind streaming services like DAZN and ESPN+, and to a lesser degree, Triller. Whether you want to believe it or not, streaming is a trend in entertainment media that is not going anywhere, and boxing has begun to integrate itself into that platform, which bodes well for its future.

It's clear that the PPV model, while still viable in some ways, is becoming a relic in the face of streaming media and piracy. I believe the future of broadcasting revenue will come from innovation in streaming media.

In any case, we're not that far removed from Mayweather breaking records with Canelo, Pacquiao, and McGregor. How can you say that boxing is waning in popularity when some of the highest grossing boxing PPVs came within the past decade alone?

Mayweather left a vacuum in the sport when he retired, but it was on the verge of making a healthy comeback with potential events like Crawford Spence, Joshua vs Wilder or Fury. Even today we see budding potential in fighters like Davis, Teofimo, Garcia, Charlo and Canelo.

What we get from Triller is not the fades that people are actually committed to for the long run. People don't want to see Prograis vs Redkach. They don't want to see Teofimo vs Kambosos. Eventually, the commentators are going to run out of dumb shyt to say, and the people aren't going to care enough to see what out of shape athlete they can throw at Logan Paul.

Edit:

I typed up a whole bunch of shyt to your vague post, when all I really had to post was

Triller is running on gimmicks. I wouldn't bet on it becoming a major player in boxing.

Agree with this.

People who turn into these Triller shows are mostly not doing it INSTEAD of following current boxers. They probably are casual fans that are interested in their favorite Youtuber or whatever fighting people. These are not disgruntled boxing fans who turned to Triller cause Ryan Garcia avoided Haney and Spence vs Crawford hasn't happened yet. :mjlol:
These freak shows were always around in boxing's history, regardless how popular boxing was at the time, nothing really new. Hell... Muhammad Ali went on to do that shyt show with Inoki in Japan, a horrible "fight" :mjlol:

While I think this event yesterday was terrible and if anyone turned there to see fades they must left disappointed after seeing all these one sided borefests with shytty technique (and the one actual boxing match ending with fukkery of course), I also think these events don't mean anything to the sport's long term future whatsoever. They won't hurt boxing but they won't bring those so called "fresh eyes" either cause they are only tune in because the guys they know from elsewhere are fighting and let's be honest, so far these events didn't give any fights that were actually dope by normal boxing standards so why would they stay?

As for they Tyson event, as someone said earlier in this thread Tyson is a popcultural icon, of course he still sells more than a mill even with a circus fight. We can pretend like it would be Canelo's, Mayweather's and whoever's "fault" that a 44 years old Tyson sells more than a million but that's just Tyson being one of the if not the most famous athlete living, period and probably a top 3-5 name in boxing history as far as fame goes.

Apochi looked good yesterday, he won a WBA eliminator
Hope it's for the Super version then, Apochi vs Goulamirian would be a good fight

Nicholson wasn't prepared to handle Apochi's pressure, he got a high KO % but wasn't nearly enough to keep Apochi off and he was beating on him in the pocket

I don’t even view triller as a boxing platform. They are more so an entertainment company that just so happens to use boxing as their chosen form of combat. Is anything really off the table for them? I wouldn’t even be surprised if they did a mma event in the future.
