Man...that was tough, tough to watch.
I don’t want to see Chuck Liddell and Jake Paul featured in what is supposed to be a new boxing platform’s intro...that’s such a bad look I don’t even know where to start.
Teofimo Lopez is in it playing second fiddle in that clip like some undercard throw away.
Teofimo Lopez just went from beating who people thought was the top P4P guy and getting all the attention on ESPN to this....
Wow, this is bad bad bad for the sport, period.
I don’t care if Justin Bieber brings an audience, the people that will tune in for that will not remember or care.
Yes, Teo, you got the bag...but long term is is a terrible look.
I don't think you should compare this to regular boxing, it's a different beast for a different target group. Normal boxing is an outlier here, honestly don't even know why they wanted Lopez vs Kambosos so bad when their profile is built on white collar fights between celebrities, legends doing exhibitions and such in their 50s and other freak show like fights meant to casual fans and people who are interested in a spectacle like that.
I don't view them as the rivals of the big 3 (DAZN, PBC, ESPN) on a grand scale but rather something of a parallel universe that focuses on other things so I didn't even expect it to be anything different.
The freak show fight fad been around for a long time in combat sports, it gets trendy somtetimes then ppl get bored of it and the fad dies, it's not for long term building imo. It got trendy now but who's to say if the trend won't die a year or 2 later, it probably will at a point.
