Getting a bit tired of all these dudes sucking their own dikk on social media, not sure how is this different than liking your own post

I view it more as promotion
People got mad but Arum was right in that fighters need to promote and sell themselves now days , mostly thru social media
The days of a don king carnival barker promoter building a fight are over, no one young would care about that
Fighters need to be going viral and engaging with their fans on a personal level like every other celebrity now days

If fighters have to promote themselves then what do they need a promoter for? Swrious question not even being a smart ass.

What do they need Bob for if they have to promote themselves? Hire a manager and an agent and fukk paying a promoter fee if you got to promote yourself.

I've seen nikkas shyt on the PBC model, but that is what the model is. The fighters promote themselves, Haymon is their manager/agent and that is that there is no promoter yet nikkas shyt on that business model when in 2021 it makes more sense for a fighter to promote themselves if they have any type of clout built up.

They need Arum/Hearn/Haymon/Dibella/Warren etc.... because all them nikkas got the connects to distribute the fights and they handle all the shyt that a regular ass manager ain't gonna have time or resources to do, especially if they have to create the infrastructure to facilitate that shyt from the ground up.

Now these boxers that done made million dollar paydays consistently, could possibly create their own website to host their fights or programs, but that's gonna take a lot of tech work and money to support a server that brings in that type of heavy traffic. On top of that they still gotta handle the site fees and all that shyt.

shyt sounds good in theory, but nobody trying to do all that shyt. You can barely keep these nikkas active with just boxing :mjlol:

That's why its just easier for boxers to just fukking promote themselves and do interesting shyt to increase viewers and sells so they can leverage that into bigger pay days. Its the reason why Broner still has a career while being a jobber to the stars.

Its always been about boxers promoting themselves, but its just that this era is fukking lazy so doing any thing that's extra is met with :picard:

A boxing promoter is in charge of setting up and paying for everything involved in a boxing match and making sure all legal requirements are met at every step along the way. The promoter assumes all financial risk associated with the event, whether that means the promoter is paying for the event him- or herself or is securing a number of secondary investors to guarantee the costs are met. And when we talk about costs, we're talking about every single thing involved in a fighting event, from the plastic cups the beer is served in to the chairs for each corner of the ring to the ring itself, the round-number girl, the referee, the ticket sales, advertising, licenses and making sure the scales used for weigh-in are properly calibrated. A big-time promoter will often contract out a lot of the details, while a small-time promoter is probably standing in line at the state boxing commission's office to obtain the necessary licenses for a fight and is measuring the ring dimensions to make sure its up to code. But either way, the promoter is ultimately responsible if anything doesn't meet legal requirements or if something goes wrong and the ambulance isn't waiting right outside the venue with exactly two qualified paramedics.

I know what a promoter is for, but I keep hearing promoters, Bob Arum in particular, keep saying that fighters need to promote themselves and I'm just like if they have to promote themselves what do they need him for. Seriously what does Bob do then besides sit back and collect money.

???

They do all the extra shyt to put together an event, so the boxers can focus on just preparing for the fight.

You mention Al setting fighters up with promotions, but at the end of the day, Al is still responsible for guiding these fighters through the entire process -- for example, there's no way Wilder was ever in charge of setting up a press tour on his own let alone an entire fight card and venue.

Joshua not finna be simultaneously negotiating with the Saudis and Tyson Fury's team.

Etc.

Fighters have enough on their plate preparing for a fight. It's not impossible, but again, I highly doubt a fighter would be able to or even willing to run a fully staffed promotional company. It's just asking for too much.
