Sergey Kovalev Pleads Guilty in Assault Case, Receives 3 Years Probation
By BoxingScene Staff

Published On Sat Oct 3, 2020, 05:33 AM EST

According to TMZ Sports, former unified light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev pled guilty on Friday in a criminal case which stemmed from an alleged assault on a woman and dog in 2018.

The boxer will now find himself on probation for the next three years.

Kovalev was alleged to have punching Jamie Frontz in Big Bear, Calif. back in June of 2018. The two had met earlier in the night at a local party and went back to her cabin, where she claims the boxer erupted after she rejected his sexual advances.

She alleges that the two of them began to kiss, but she pulled away when the boxer became too aggressive.

Upon pulling away, she states that boxer punched her in the face and kicked her dog.

She told TMZ Sports, and other outlets, that Kovalev's punch caused a broken nose, a concussion and facial lacerations.

The 37-year-old Kovalev was eventually arrested and hit with a felony assault charge.

After heavy negotiations, the boxer cut a deal with prosecutors to have the felony charge dropped.

Instead, he pled guilty to misdemeanor fighting/noise/offensive words and received the sentence of three years probation.

Kovalev was also ordered to serve a two day jail sentence, but he received credit for time served.

Additionally, Kovalev must attend/complete an anger management program and pay $220 in court fees.

While the criminal case is now done, Kovalev is still being sued by Frontz in civil court. The two sides had a reached an agreement where Kovalev was set to pay her $650,000. She claims the boxer had stopped making payments and filed litigation to secure the rest of the money.

Charlo turned down 7m to fight him so there’s that. Everybody seems to overprice themselves vs Canelo. Smith, BJS, Charlo...
and right now Canelo obviously doesn’t fight anyone
Who confirmed this legendary Charlo turn down? Lol

And he don't fight no one? He's definitely not p4p #1 and definitely has been exposed for wanting fluff fights..willing to fight Yildrim but wanting no parts of Benavidez when he had the title. And if he's gonna pay a loser like Sergey $12 million..you damn right they gonna keep wanting more than pennies.

Benavidez? What are you talking about? Canelo would slice up Benavidez. Benavidez isn't that great.

Canelo not fighting anyone anytime soon is only a recent development, if he'll sit out long enough they will put him off P4P 1, if that worries you.
Canelo never said with a word he wants Yildirim it was the WBC's idea to "order" that fight, like they could order to Canelo anything realistically, you know just trying to look more influential than they are, so the usual.
With that said I wouldn't even be surprised if Canelo would fight Yildirim. At this point, he probably just wants to fight anyone and a pursue bid vs Yildirim might be the only way for that now that he is in the midst of legal actions against his promoter and network. Idk exactly how his contract goes but maybe in case of a pursue bid he is allowed to fight elsewhere than DAZN. But he can't go just by himself making any other fight now probably.

So now Malik Scott supposed to take a bigger role in training Wilder.

Wilder ain't gonna listen to a nikka he knocked out. :snoop:

Wilder will listen, because he respects Malik. Regardless of what you AJ & Fury supporters believe, it was Malik that gave Wilder the toughest fight of his career. If you ask Deontay what his toughest fight was, he will say Malik.
