What current boxing entity should PBC be more like, since they're regularly singled out and talked down upon by you?

Arum: We Have Plans For Teofimo Lopez That Don't Involve WBC

by Jake Donovan

Top Rank will openly embrace the World Boxing Council (WBC) ruling that as Vasiliy Lomachenko fighting for its lightweight title.

The other ordered lightweight fights weren’t met with quite as much interest.

An overwhelming vote by the WBC Board of Governers ruled in favor of a petition filed by Lomachenko to face the sanctioning body’s top rated contender, Luke Campbell for the recently vacated 135-pound title. Campbell was due to face Mikey Garcia, who vacated the title rather than commit to immediately returning to the division following a 12-round loss to Errol Spence in a failed welterweight title bid in March.

With Campbell’s advancement to the title comes in a shift in the rest of the rankings. The WBC sought to order a four-man boxoff, which includes Top Rank’s stud contender Teofimo Lopez in a semifinal eliminator versus former 130-pound titlist Javier Fortuna. The other side of the bracket has Russia's Zaur Abdullaev facing unbeaten American contender Devin Haney, with the WBC's vision of the two winners meeting to determine a future mandatory challenger.

That particularly ruling won’t be met, at least not on Lopez’s end.

“We already have plans for Teofimo Lopez that don’t involve the WBC at this moment,” Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum told BoxingScene.com on Tuesday. “We respect that the WBC has a job to do in ordering these fights and establishing mandatory challengers. But right now, we are taking (Lopez) in a different direction).”

Lopez (13-0, 11KOs)—whom has scored three significant knockout wins in a span of just four months—is on course to face Japan’s Masayoshi Nakatani (18-0, 12KOs) in a final eliminator to determine the mandatory challenger to International Boxing Federation (IBF) lightweight titlist Richard Commey. Their bout is slated to take place July 20 at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Md., headlining a Top Rank on an ESPN platform.

Top Rank promotes Lomachenko and Lopez; the company currently has options on Commey, whom is primarily promoted by Lou DiBella.

Ghana’s Commey (28-2, 25KOs) won the IBF title on a Top Rank on ESPN show this past February in Frisco, Texas. His 2nd round knockout of Isa Chaniev came on the same card as Lopez’s one-sided stoppage of veteran contender Diego Magdaleno.

Next up for the recently crowned titlist is a voluntary defense of his title in late June versus a challenger to be determined. From there, Top Rank plans to match the winners—from their end, presumably Commey and Lopez—in a title fight later this fall, which is around the targeted time frame for Lomachenko (13-1, 10KO) to put his two belts on the line in pursuit of a third versus England’s Campbell (20-2, 16KOs).

With all four major belts being contender for at the same relative time, it can only create a much clearer path for full unification than if Lopez were to go in a different direction.

“God-willing, Teofimo Lopez beats (Nakatani)—who is a superb fighter, mind you—and Commey wins his voluntary defense, then they get to fight next,” confirms Arum. “Whomever emerges as the IBF champion, that would be great to unify all four titles.

“Now from our end, of course we’d like for Loma to beat Luke Campbell and then bring the winners together for one big fight for all the marbles. That’s what boxing needs more of, these fights to get rid of all the confusion of who’s the best. And we now have a chance to make that a reality in the next few months to come.”

He knows his boy might very well get outboxed by Haney, he’s not about having young Teofimo collect an L already. :russ:

Is it black Americans in general, you hate or just PBC?
To answer your question, this is an annoying assertion to make against Pat or Mal, that's what irritates me. You don't know these cats six ways from Sunday and are talking brazy shyt to em bruh. That I have a problem with.

He ain't tryna see Loma get KO'd by a fighter under 23 in Lopez. Lopez vs Haney wont end up fighting for a while but I got Teo there. I'd take Teo over Loma too.

I didn't say anything about Mal, that I can remember. And even if I did he's seemingly a grown ass man. And so is Pat.
II really feel the way i feel,so I don't really care who's put off by it.
It's just my honest assessment.

On top of that, what I said has plenty merit.
He's VERY harsh on PBC.
Wondered where it was coming from.I still wonder. I asked him who was doing it better,he wouldn't answer and basically ducked that question multiple times.
That leaves me feeling like why is the best in the biz being shyt upon more than the others.
But he never answered so i came to my conclusion.
And I'm not tripping. Like most non ADOS he might have a problem with those that are. I'm used to it though.

like most non ADOS, they would have a problem with PBC being the best in biz :dead:...might be one of the silliest things ive ever read..esp since most non ADOS that have posted about PBC here dont speak about it like i do :dead:...i really hope you get a W2 from PBC from all the cheerleading you do for them...one would think you have a belief that a non ADOS can't be the best at anything...my conclusion from your misguided ramblings :sas2:..anyways dont worry about what i think about PBC..im blessed in the fact that I can find enjoyment in boxing outside of the PBC bubble since im old school...i hope one day you can do the same:manny:...meanwhile enjoy the PBC cards to your heart's content :salute:

Demetrius Andrade: I'll Put My Jab In Canelo's Face All Night!

By Keith Idec

LAS VEGAS – Demetrius Andrade feels Daniel Jacobs did enough Saturday night to upset Canelo Alvarez.

One thing Jacobs definitely didn’t do was land enough jabs. That, Andrade promised, won’t be an issue if he gets the opportunity to challenge Alvarez later this year.

Andrade discussed some of what his strategy would be against Alvarez with DAZN announcers Brian Kenny and Sergio Mora after Alvarez beat Jacobs by unanimous decision Saturday night.

“That’s the thing – every round could be different,” Andrade explained. “I don’t have a game plan to go and do one thing, one particular thing, the whole 12 rounds. Things changes. Things changes all the time, so I can’t sit here and tell you what I’m gonna do – other than when I get in there. But one thing I will do is put a jab in his face all night – all night.”

CompuBox credited Jacobs with landing only 42-of-290 jabs – just 3½ per round and 26 fewer than Alvarez (68-of-202). Alvarez also connected on more power punches than Jacobs – 120-of-264 to 89-of-359 – on his way to winning at T-Mobile Arena.

Andrade still left ringside convinced Jacobs edged Alvarez in their fight for Alvarez’s WBA and WBC and Jacobs’ IBF middleweight titles.

“I definitely was entertained by the fight – two guys that have a great IQ,” Andrade said. “And, you know, Danny Jacobs, I thought he did what he had to do to pull it off. But, you know, I’m not the judge. Canelo definitely came to fight. It was a great display of boxing, for boxing itself.”

The 31-year-old Andrade (27-0, 17 KOs) is scheduled to oppose Poland’s Maciej Sulecki (28-1, 11 KOs) on June 29 at Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island, Andrade’s hometown. Andrade, a 6-feet-1 southpaw, hopes a victory over Sulecki moves him into position to challenge Alvarez for middleweight supremacy.

By then, a deal already could be in place for Alvarez (52-1-2, 35 KOs) to battle Gennadiy Golovkin for the third time. Kazakhstan’s Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs) first must overcome Canada’s Steve Rolls (19-0, 10 KOs) on June 8 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

“I’ve got Sulecki next and he’s a guy that fought Danny Jacobs,” Andrade said. “He’s a top guy. Get him out the way and, you know, Canelo should be the guy.”
