Efe Ajagba Likely To Return on Charlo-Adams Undercard

By Ryan Burton

LAS VEGAS - Efe Ajagba (10-0) made quick work of Michael Wallisch on Saturday night. The hard hitting Nigerian obliterated the overmatched German in two rounds at the Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino.

In the main event of the evening, former champions Robert Easter Jr. and Rances Barthelemy battled to a split draw. Viktor Postol defeated Mohamed Mimoune by unanimous decision in the co-feature bout to round out the tripleheader.

The fight was Ajagba’s Showtime debut and he passed his step up test with flying colors. He got off to a fast start as Wallisch’s face started to become bruised in the first round and after taking a knee in the second round, the fight was stopped by the referee seconds later.

After the fight Ajagba was in a great mood and didn’t have a scratch on his face. He said that he will return to the gym very soon because the plan is to return on the Jermall Charlo-Brandon Adams undercard.

“I will be back in the ring in June in Texas,” Ajagba told BoxingScene.com. “Jermall and I have the same trainer and I will be on his undercard.”

Ajagba was referring to world class trainer Ronnie Shields whose stable of fighters includes Charlo and several others. His opponent will be determined in the near future.

BoxingScene.com’s Keith Idec previously reported that Charlo-Adams could take place on either June 8th or 15th. Showtime will air the fight.

De La Hoya: Canelo is Right, GGG Must Win Title To Get Trilogy!

"It's not true that (Golovkin) has the fight in September with Canelo, I agree with Canelo, one hundred percent, Golovkin has to climb his way back again," said De la Hoya.

"Canelo is now the champion and he has many options, he can go up to 168 pounds, go up to 175 pounds and make history ... If GGG wants to fight Canelo, he has to fight and win a world championship."

Gotta see how Canelo does against Danny Jacobs but I think Andrade might be the only serious threat at 160 to the #1 P4P.Just off his size and awkward angles that’s one matchup that doesn’t look too favorable for Canelo.

I hope I’m wrong about Charlo being exposed due to his fight against Korobov...but Canelo is way too slick and great of a counter puncher that I can’t see him not cruising to an easy decision against Jermall.
