78sports i actually subscribed to and youre 100 percent right about that..personally i do not get the LDBC's fascination and stannery with wilder

You don’t get the Wilder stannery? Imo it’s simple breh. It’s always easier to make the public beliece something what they want to believe very much. In this case that thing is a dominant American HW champ and the public is the US public. Some fans so desperate for a legitimate US HW champ after Lewis, the Klitschkos and now Fury and Joshua that they easily believe Wilder is the best in the bunch despite his obvious flaws.

To be fair though he really is an entertaining guy who’s making dramatic fights if he’s not in there with an overmatched opponent like in his first 30+ fights and he does have great power. So imo he’s legitimately entertaining and that plus the US HW patriotistic nostalgia make people easier to believe that he’s the best...

That was a little different
Martin got dealt with right after he won his belt (via DQ lol) in a ridiculous fashion. I remember AJ kept KD him w the same basic ass combo and when he sent him down like the 3rd time he actually bursted out in laughter :mjlol: like “Is this really gonna be so easy?”

Wilder didn’t have hype fir years either, many though he’s a fraud who beats overmatched guys, the Povetkin fight never happened either to team Wilder’s luck or unluck we will never know. Strangely the Wilder hype started about the time he KOd Stiverne on their rematch who probably was the most overmatched Wilder opponent in all his title defenses. Still it seemed like US fight public started to get behind that time. Now after he beat Ortiz too we know he is no fraud but some ppl fell on the other side of the horse and thought dude gonna keep KO everyone all the time even elite level opponents just cause he has power and that always gonna be enough. Even some seasoned boxing fans got sucked into this who otherwise should know better than that, know that never in boxing history a guy kept knocking out elite opponents even wgen he was in obvious skill disadvantage compared to them. That just doesn’t happen in boxing, a sport which is just as much about skills as about athleticism.

I don’t agree with your point of view on this one.

The problem is when Greg posted that story, it made him come off as a hoe who will do anything for a story as opposed to someone being objective. The story really had nothing to do with boxing.

You have to remember that Greg not only had exclusive access to interview Floyd, but he was also close with the entire camp. This is why he was privy to this kind of information in the first place.

Therefore, Floyd had no choice but to cut him off, as he doesn’t want this type of business out there. He can’t have a guy like this in his circle.

If y’all remember, Greg had the ability to get real close with fighters. They would seek out his opinion, which is why he was able to become an advisor to several guys. He still works closely with Pascal.

Greg basically didn’t play the game how it’s suppose to be played. When you choose to enter this type of relationship with certain athletes & entertainers, you have to compromise. Your platform generates all of this attention, in return that person does have some influence on what is put out there. That’s just how the game is played.

Certain guys are only getting on platforms that they trust. Once you betray that trust, you can’t get mad that they cut you off and move on.

Ehhhh, we kinda saying the same thing fam.

Bottom line, is Greg fukked up by posting that article. If he wasn't trying to be all buddy buddy with dude and just report the news it wouldn't have looked like the hoe ass attention seeking move that it actually was. Dude essentially tried to play both sides, he wanna flex his connects and friendships, but then dish out their dirt and substantiate rumors the following week. That shyt will never work in any industry, not just boxing.

and Floyd was only giving him the access cuz of the stanning anyways. You can't get into the game stanning nikkas and then flip it once you gained their trust. Dude passed off attention seeking as news on the regular and that shyt rubbed people the wrong way. Reason why I summarized all his L's in my post. Hell, Bread's mailbag was keeping that outdated ass site a float for a while until that relationship fell apart. It just seems like Greg was a toxic ass person in general. All the cats that started on Boxingtalk under him are now more relevant and on bigger platforms.

and yeah I remember that whole advisor shyt he was doing. He thought he was Haymon :mjlol:

how do we feel about this offering from PBC for the PPV? :patrice:

That undercard is worse than the one for Joshua/Miller :hhh:

I don't know who Love saved over there at PBC, but they gotta pay it back another way. That nikka don't need to be on any televised cards.

brilliant explanation .

we welcome them with open arms and no defence..:francis:
I think it's cool that these Eastern-Euros and Central-Asians appeared on the US scene too, also the improvement of UK boxing in the last few year, also Japanese boxing going strong

Now there are some nutjobs of course who from racial or whatever reasons envisioned some Easter-Euro takeover which is wrong and not gonna happen like that but it is good that the competition rises and the source of pro talents got broader. The new and old boxing countries are in the mix alike and their best prospects compete. Nobody gonna take over from now imo, not the sport in general.
