that guy has a good check hook video.
i see a lot of guys instructing the check hook all wrong. but he got it right.
i would have added that its better to throw a step back check hook for his right hand, and save your turn check hook, as was demonstrated in the video, for his left hook.
reason being is the turn side steps you away from the direction of a left hook.
and the step back lets you move away from the direction of a right hand.
see how that works? i have only ever seen guys land the check hook with a turn on a right hand before the right hand has come out. if you time it wrong you will not be in range anymore. it never works.
so you got to time it to land real early, or you will side step the right hand completely, but end up too far out range to land your check hook.
