So there will be a face off for Thurman vs Lopez too like it would be some big fight? :pachaha:

C'mon now, Lopez was never all that and he is past his prime, the only way this gonna be competitive if Thurman slipped that much during his absence. It is not completely out of reality but really Josesito Lopez in a face off like he'd be some formidable challenge? :mjlol: What he's gonna say "I won't let you to be the 8th men who defeats me :demonic:" or "I will come to fight :manny:" ?

The Countdown show is on right now as well, regular FOX channel. They are going to do this for every fight, even the FS1 ones.

2x fights a month, one on FOX and one on FS1.

It's just part of their new deal.

I wouldn't complain, this is the type of stuff boxing needed for yeeeaaars.

These guys need recognition.

I get it breh and it's good that they are having this for some fights but having it for Thurman vs Lopez is just fancy packaged trash and boxing fans know that... That's what I was getting at.
Usually fights with face offs and shyt demanded a certain magnitude what Thurman vs Lopez clearly lacks, it's not some big problem though it's just funny to fans who follow boxing regularly, know who Josesito Lopez is and what kind of fight is this exactly.

They were having it for Uzi vs Plant now that's reasonable to me, not big stars but that fight is real good and it will have a real effect on the 168 division.

Thurman's fight with Lopez is meant as an easy "shake off the rust" kind of fight and nothing more. If Thurman hasn't gone completely washed during these almost 2 years he should win.

It's a "match" promo for the sake of building up stars, the Countdown/training camp show that they showed after the face to face was like 70 percent Thurman, 30 percent Lopez...even though it should be a 50/50 split.

This is to build up Thurman so when the the bigger bouts happen...there are more converted/new/casual fans with their eyes on it. It's a layered approach.

Example. Say Spence vs Thurman happens in Oct this year..and they have a Countdown/All Access series for it...now you aren't doing the job of introducing Thurman and his story to the general public for the first time because you already did so in January..you are layering on to it.

More is ALWAYS better, and it all counts in making eventual big fights even bigger from both a buzz/buys perspective.

This formula worked wonders for the UFC, it'a why they have so many b, c and even d fighters with huge social media followings...more people WILL watch if they feel invested in a fighter and his story.

People saying this "Golovkin can't win on the cards against Canelo" shyt like not both of their fights would be close.

Most people thought GGG won the first one but not in a shutout or even 9-3 fashion, they think he won 7-5 or so and a draw was plausible. If someone says Golovkin has to do more to win on the cards like maybe a 7-5 kind of win won't be enough I might eve agree but stop it with the bs about how he can't possibly win on the cards. He can if he wins decisively, something what didn't happen yet.

Yea but only GGG stans say that type of stuff.

Honestly the GGG and Canelo fights are wierd. Based on exchanges Canelo won 90% of it. Canelo won like 90% of back and forth shyt going on. GGG just won 90% of the dead action with jabs while Canelo really was not doing anything.
GGG was basically statpadding pushing that jab out. I wouldn’t even call that jab affective. It was just Canelo was just content with not doing anything.

Taking in damage and effectiveness of punching the second fight wasn’t even close honestly but it was close on the cards due to GGG spamming that safe ass scoring jab. Canelo whooped GGG ass in the 2nd fight.

I think GGG's jab was effective in the first fight cause he was on the front foot while throwing it, they were hard pace setting jabs. On the rematch his jabs were served more to try and keep Canelo at bay while GGG was going backwards or laterally.

I agree with Canelo winning the second fight exactly because he landed the cleaner punches, he was the ring general and he had the effective aggression. In defense they did similarly. Even with that it was close but due to Canelo upping his pace to the rematch he won it for me, it wasn't like the first fight when Canelo went to the ropes for long stretches and only GGG kept working.
