Boxing is a business and there is money in a Wilder v Fury rematch. He can stretch that out before facing the 'golden goose' in Joshua. If he faces Joshua immediately and loses then the Fury fight doesn't have as much economic potential.
It's the same reason Hearn and Joshua went on the offensive saying they only want the Wilder fight now. It's because they don't want Fury and Wilder to continue to build their profile. Same reason Joshua was heated when the fans demanded that he fights Dillian Whyte. He wants to remain the cash cow in heavyweight boxing and dictate terms.

Found this great coverage this morning. Backstage with Harrison..some nice candid Wilder footage as well post fight in the hotel room.

They basically remind him of the gatekeepers of the 80s EXCEPT they were able to win titles based on the way they move (were managed) and were able to at least win a title.
However, he doesn't appear to view "gatekeepers" as a negative term, which is what the typical person thinks of when they see that word.
I did bust out laughing when he said that line towards the end of the video.

shyts crazy... Tony Harrison is a champ and is only a fight removed from almost getting beat by Ishe lol..but yeah its time for Ishe to go..I find it hard to believe only Vanes has been able to drop him..stopping Ishe for the first time would be huge for Lubin.
