He switched up when he knew that Hamlin intel couldn’t be sold. The McGill light switch came onand he wanted to do right by Kim
kim and imo more importantly himself
a lot of shyt happened to him and he's responsible for aiding in a lotta bad shyt
he set himself free by facing the music (no scams or shortcuts) even though he'll most likely die in prison
i respect what they were going for
Just a small thing but I wish they would have ended on the scene of Jimmy & Kim smoking instead of the postscript across the yard, but otherwise fantastic finale.
Also, besides the series story, just run the Gene storyline from beginning through these last few, and didn't Jimmy/Saul/Gene/Viktor seem more lively and at peace in the prison kitchen after saving Kim than he ever did in hiding at Cinnabon? There's this overall sense of him being where he belongs and him being okay with it in those last few scenes that was in stark contrast to the bleakness and dread that surrounded every early Gene scene.

Better Call Saul does a great job on making Walter White the villain he was and seeing it from the outside of Walt’s circle
