In the Breaking Bad series, it would have made sense because of what you mentioned, except for Skylar because she wouldn't be wanting to be implicated. Walt's phone call that episode made it appear he forced her to comply.

But the Nippy episode got me thinking, because he made a decision NOT to run when his cover was blown and able to handle it his own way. Which is something that the OLD SAUL would've done. Add to the fact he was Lalo's attorney, so it wasn't a secret about whom he associates himself with. The only people he MAY have a fear were the Nazi's, but at that stage, he dealt with so many criminals that I've doubt him hiding would be the first immediate option.

By shredding the financial trail connection with Walt, and the police/feds not knowing where the actual money was and Walt disappearing, there was nothing that is SOLID enough pin Saul and at worse, he would just lose his license which was a given anyway.

this dude Walt was straight up murdering people, and Saul was a part of it. its a criminal conspiracy. he was gonna get life

You gotta remember the phone call ploy didn't work though.

In "Granite State" Saul explained that since the police don't have Walt, they'd go after Skyler.

In the very next scene, the DEA is threatening her.

Even months later, in "Felina", she hadn't even been to trial yet. Which is why Walt gave her the GPS coordinates for Hank/Gomez. So she could try to cut a deal.

Long story short, if Saul stayed Skyler definitely would've snitched on him. And yeah he shredded a lot of paper and tried to cover his tracks, but even one small mistake would be a wrap.

No sense in risking it. :manny:

Well, Saul wouldn't have known, but Skylar wouldn't have snitched no matter what because of the Nazi's came to her door specifically to tell her not to snitch. But after the murder of them and knowing the coordinates... yea, she would have told everything, especially since Walt told her to do it only to make a deal granting her immunity.

So, yea. The Skyler on top of the Huell testimony would have done. I see the point there.

My point is that him being a defense lawyer, what Walt does have little to do outside of the financial trail. You cannot use that argument when Saul was the attorney for Lalo who was straight up murdering people and Saul got him out on bail under false pretenses. So, if that didn't stick then... that wasn't a good enough reason.

@hex explained it best for me.... it was the Skylar factor. Skylar had to make a deal with the feds to be granted immunity and therefore, she would be free to tell everything which would include Saul's involvement.

Dude has been set for life since "Malcolm In The Middle" so it's whatever but he looks homeless here.

Fred.
when he's not working... he generally always looks homeless... kinda like David Letterman when he stopped doing the late show... grew that giant ass bushy beard out... made him look like he had just been dumpster diving

Man this second half of the season has been kind of weak. Feel like they are just milking episodes to max profits.

I've heard somewhere that AMC requested more episodes, and that the series was supposed to end with episode 9.
