Interview with Giancarlo Esposito. I'll quote the most relevant parts:

Better Call Saul Q&A – Giancarlo Esposito (Gustavo Fring)

Q: How different is the Better Call Saul version of Gus versus who we knew and loved in Breaking Bad? What’s it been like to discover new elements of this character?

A: He’s a different guy. He’s a little fresher, a little less jaded. The time period alone takes us to a time where his look may be little bit different. I wanted him to be little more hopeful, a little more energetic, maybe not as definitive in some of his actions because he’s a Gus that we’ve never met before. That’s really what I’ve been focusing on trying to mine. Of course, the moments that are written that Gus is the heavy; Gus has the calm that is just unshakable and remarkably still, but there’s also the Gus that is more eager and just fresher to the scene of this world than he was in Breaking Bad. He is still terrifying, there is no doubt about it. … But I think he has an element of being quietly and smoothly manipulating. Those characteristics are being developed, and I’m doing everything backwards because of what we’ve already seen in Breaking Bad.

Q: What are you most excited for fans to see in Better Call Saul Season 3?

A: I think one of the big excitements of the season is for the fans to see the connections between Mike and Gus. To see how Mike becomes an intrinsic part of the operation and to see a younger and more spry Hector Salamanca, where the hatred for Hector grew and how Gus gained the favor of Juan Bolsa possibly over Hector. I think those are fascinating relationships and elements that the fans will be really excited about because when we get into the whole world of the cartel and the intricate business with which they operate, I think the fans are going to be really excited to see how great a manipulator, and how grateful and stealth a business man Gus is. And they’re going to be really excited to see how he starts to take things over.

Other news pieces:

‘Better Call Saul’: Giancarlo Esposito’s Gustavo Fring Returns for Season 3

  • Co-creator/exec producer Peter Gould admitted that he’s only now starting to get a real handle on how Odenkirk’s title character transforms from the earnest Jimmy McGill to the crooked Saul Goodman. McGill may have a shady side to him but he has a core sense of decency that will eventually evaporate. “This season as it progressed, I started to understand it a little bit better. You’ll see that it takes a lot of pressure to turn a lump of coal into a diamond. It takes a hell of a lot of pressure to turn a decent man into Saul Goodman.
  • Michael McKean, who plays the straight-laced older brother Chuck McGill, said the actors have no long-term insights into the storyline. “None of us in this room know whether or not we’re going to die tomorrow,” he said.
  • Rhea Seahorn, who plays Jimmy McGill’s love interest Kim Weller, said she enjoys getting to watch the story unfold as a fan even as she works on the show. “I don’t have to spend a lot of time thinking about (Kim’s future),” she said. She also said she’s been impressed at how fans have embraced characters such as hers who are not part of the original “Breaking Bad” canon. “It’s riveting to me to watch people hurtle toward a destiny that I know,” along with the mystery of what becomes of the new characters, she said.
  • Gould hinted that time jumps could become more frequent as the show likes having the option of moving backwards and forwards in the chronology of the characters. “In some ways it’s also a sequel to ‘Breaking Bad’ — who knows what we’re going to see,” he said.
  • When Gould tap-danced around a question about whether there would be more sequel material, Odenkirk jumped to the reporter’s defense. “Will you give this lady just a little tidbit of something,” he implored Gould. To which Gilligan responded: “If 2016 taught us nothing else, it’s that anything is possible.”

Hmm...very interesting! If they're actually jumping into the future a bit, does that mean we will see Jesse, Skylar, etc....or maybe even Heisenberg?:ohhh: Lol. Either way, with Gus now entering the fray, Saul's heel turn isn't too far off. I'm wondering what the ending of Better Call Saul will be like? I know it's a silly question in context but Im curious as in how many more seasons will it go on. I think maybe 2, nor more than three.

They always said this show could take place before, during and after "Breaking Bad". We never seen Saul in his free time on "BB". He was either in scenes with Walt and Jesse or dealing with something related to them. We never seen him after work, at home, etc. They could show scenes of that.

The future part they're talking about is after "Breaking Bad" though, when he's Gene in Omaha. A fan broke down the time line of when that is based on the Rich Eisen show the janitor was listening to last season. Those scenes are roughly a month and a half after Walt dies.

As far as how the show ends, a common fan theory is Walt isn't dead and Saul comes out of hiding to represent him....but that seems wild far fetched.

Well...as I learned from watching Breaking Bad, anything can happen in this show so I wouldn't put it past them to pull off something as wild as Walt coming out of hiding. I think that is what makes it exciting as this could go in so many different directions. I was also thinking just how much Gus will be involved in BCS. I'm hoping its beyond season 3. I also wonder if we will actually see his family as well.

Apparently the Los Pollos Hermanos promo aired on TV as a real commercial in Albuquerque late at night before it popped up on the internet. :ohhh:

Fred.

:wow: They should seriously capitalize on this. Do like a limited time Pop Up Store with them selling the chicken while having a fan greet or something like that. All the proceeds would then go to a charity of their choosing. I think that would be a great turn out.

Gus back :krs:

They should've made his appearance a total surprise, but this is shaping up to the show's breakout season (hopefully).
