I feel like the visual style of this is going to make or break this. Those characters had such a strong visual presence in the early years especially.

To be fair also the entire plot of troubled kid sent to live with family (usually in the South) is more than often a dramatic story in Hollywood.

i never had that thought about the characters when this show first aired in the 90s
i guess all the OGs in the hollywood (creators of tv shows) are gone
