Showtime has cancelled everything but The Chi

the weird part is the Chi is only getting more popular the farther it goes (which is how TV used to be)
They don’t let some shows breathe enough, I also will never understand the budget constraints argument for a show on a streaming platform.
How much are these shows supposed to cost and how many people do they expect to watch? It was a good positive show and these networks need content isn’t that enough?

only reason The Chi is still on because Showtime doesn’t cancel shyt lol

they let homeland run for like 10 seasons after everyone stopped watching after like 3
Yea homeland told its story by the time Brody died. That next season should have been the last and they could have just did a spinoff with Carrie
At this point I wish networks would just say a show is only going to have a specific number of seasons max so I can stop being so surprised and disappointed when it gets cut out of nowhere

There were a couple shows i thought they let run way too long. Ray Donovan got like 7 or 8 seasons and a movie, Californication got waaaaay too many seasons.

Showtime loves the L word and brought it back like twice.

Not surprised.. most the black sitcoms start to get on the chopping block around seasons 3-4 if they last that long no matter how successful they were.

I'm honestly surprised The Chi has lasted this long. The only reason Starz hasn't completely gotten rid of Power is cuz they figured out a way to get around budget cuts by ending shows and doing spinoffs where they can keep restarting the budget from scratch versus paying out higher contracts the more the seasons progress

I like the fact that some networks let the showrunners know it's the final season so they can at least attempt to properly write a conclusion, but I hate when the final season always gets lesser episodes

Its because Actor’s contracts are up for renewal after the first three seasons and they generally all want raises. Coco Jones is now a Grammy award winner, she’ll command a raise. Jabari Banks as the lead would command a raise. So would the actors for Phil, Viv, etc.

That’s a crazy reason. Oh well there is too much content out here to consume nowadays to be worried about a show ending.

At this point I won’t get into a show until it’s over just so I can manage my expectations

Maybe they're choosing to now our gracefully. Otherwise, I don't understand the move. Shyt, Big Willie ⏸️ could float the shyt with his prod company a season or two if need be.

Like @Ziggiy said, it’s most likely dUE to contract renewals. This is why networks like peacock won’t grow though, you can’t just kill a good show (that honestly looks like its on the cheaper side to produce) because you’re afraid of giving people pay raises.

I’ll never have another reason to subscribe to peacock once this is over.

Doubt it. I think the show just lost viewership. Peacock need hits. They not gonna cancel a successful show for minor raises. I checked out at season 1.

Calrton and Lisa turn my stomach from their mere presence 😂
