They didn't waste anything, your just trying to act like it was a waste. If they gave it to you would you be like"They couldn't waste money if they tried"
Will they end up selling all that stuff? Maybe some will be given away. Its a win win for all involved. M$ takes a "loss" but not a loss that is felt since they make more than the amount you talking about every month.
