Mook Lux Verb Dizaster

Battlerap Mt Rushmore.

All in favor say I...

Alright its settled. Official Mt Rushmore. Its settled. No debating... Thanks everyone for your participation and cooperation.

I agree with everyone except Diz. If his spot had to go to a West Coast rapper, it should go to Thesaurus or Illmac since I consider them to be forefathers more than Diz.

Rex, Conceited, Hitman and Arsonal all have an argument to be on it too.

Not saying he should be on it but Con did birth the whole punch line battle rap lane. Or at the least made it popular.

It's definitely mook lux and verb for me with the fourth spot vacant for now. Geechi has put in work but what legendary moments or groundbreaking aspects did he bring to battle rap?

The disrespect Dizaster gets from URL type fans is :russ:

Most people I know know nothing or next to nothing about battle rap, I was one of them like 3 years ago...but they'd recognize Dizaster, they'd recognize T-Rex, Arsonal, Mook, DNA, Hoffa, Hitman, Serius (somewhat). Maybe 1 or 2 others...maybe Con. Show them a picture/video of these guys and they can associate them with battle rap. That's like 75% of what qualifies you for Rushmore imo...who knows you? Could you arguably be the logo for battle rap? That type shyt.

The other 25% is your actual work. That's why I don't know if Mook and Lux are necessarily locks, they don't have enough accessible wreck...just a lot of allure behind what they were doing off-camera. If not for the Calicoe shyt, Lux wouldn't be mentioned/known nearly as much.

Geechi's list is on point...it's a little trapped in the early-mid 2000's-ish but most of us hold the luminaries of something in that regard. I think Tay Roc's name should be thrown in that mix at this point too. Verb too...I think he's awful now and even the old shyt I've watched wasn't impressive to me, but you can't front on what he did for the mid-west.

do you feel its sort of biased to have mook.lux, rex , like the only battle rap mt rushmores except for one spot is from Harlem? I know battle rap was big in harlem obviously and theres nobody from lets say philly that deserves to be on it but still. I think I only have Lux as a shoe in. maybe Mook. but rex fukked up his legacy too much for me. Id have mook. lux and verb for now. 4th spot open, i wouldve put hollow but hes been ass lately

This is respectable but I'm not sure I'd put Dizaster. I'd have to think about the 4th. First 3 is good money

Mount Rushmore isn't about amount of battles. Mount Rushmore is impact, being a pioneer, influence, popularity, stature. Lux and Mook are LOCKS. Lux has to be a lock because he bought street battle rap back to the forefront after Smack died, with Lionz Den, and brought out Ars, Roc, Goodz, K-Shine, Charlie Clips, and helped discover Hitman and Verb. Lux is damn near Smack level in terms of introducing legends to battle rap fans, plus add in what he did in battles, he HAS to be on there.

Mook is the logo and most influential battler ever. Literally the entire modern format of how nikkas battle is based off what Mook introduced. He was on like 4 Smack battles (Millz, Serius, Party Arty, Lux) which showed people how to battle in the current URL format. That's why Harlem is so revered because their style of battling is actually what we're seeing now. People battled in other parts of the country, but it wasn't until Smack DVD and Mook which revolutionized the format that people are currently using. The way people battled before over beats, and not structured towards their opponents and freestyling was the style prior to Mook introducing the Harlem style of battle rapping on Smack.

Dizaster has a case because of being a pioneer, but the battle rap that he revolutionized isn't popular anymore. He was part of the Grindtime/California style battle rap circuit that isn't widely viewed, respected or cared about in black culture. That KOTD/Grindtime style of battle rap may have it's own Mount Rushmore where Diz can be on, but as far as the culture as a whole, his style has nothing to do with the most popularized style of battle rap we currently watch.

Mook and Lux are locks, I don't think Rex is simply because he was always considered under Mook. He's a legend and pioneer but he's not Mount Rushmore. And I like Rex way more than Mook.

To me, people put way too much emphasis on amount of battles because if you have 100 battles and the other guy has 10, but his 10 are more impactful than your 100, then...

its like nikkas forget that the actual mt rushmore was based on history/legacy, not popularity

I literally always say this. nikkas need to go see who the 4 presidents on Mount Rushmore are and then come back. Those aren't the most popular nor best presidents ever. They are the most important (Or at least in office when the most important moments in US history happened).

Without Lux and Mook, modern battle rap doesn't even exist in this format. The same can't be said for DNA, Arsonal, Tay Roc, Verb, Hitman, etc...and not saying some of those can't arguably take a slot, but definitely not over lux and mook. that's crazy.

Imagine someone suggesting to replace George Washington's face with Obama's :russ: George Washington was a founding father and literally freed America from British rule :heh:

Ehh. They're definitely on my Mount Rushmore...but I can understand why Geechi and Twork and others don't have them on theirs.

It's not all about amount of battles, nobody has Dre Dennis on any lists...but putting in work has to mean something, no? Look at how many battles DNA has, I'm sure it's wayyy over 100. Aside from just the amount alone, look at who is on his resume. Then, look at how long he's been putting in work on that level. Then, factor in his skillset. Then look at his Win/Loss ratio. Then...his familiarity and how even non-hardcore battle rap fans know DNA for battle rap. DNA probably has more wins against other legends than Lux and Mook have battles in total...combined! Think about that. Same for Roc. Same for a couple others. Stuff like that has to play a huge part when considering slots for Rushmore, imo.

And in regard to Mook changing the game...I mean, Future and The Migos and some others changed the whole sound/style of Rap as we knew it. Ace Hood changed the way the whole game was flowing for a while. Chief Keef ushered in a style that the kids are still using today. Etc... Do we consider any of those people Mount Rushmore? I hear what you saying...but other things seem more important to me than that. Lux deserves his kudos for Lion's Den but I'm thinking strictly about the on-court/on-stage prowess of these guys when I'm thinking about Rushmore...the wreck. Smack, Beasley, KOTD owner dude, Subzero, Deebo, etc... should all be considered too if we going off of leagues and their impact.

Idk, to me Dizaster has to be there, it almost seems ridiculous to leave him off, all things considered. Bad Guys make the Hall of Fame too, lol. That heavy multi-syllabic, overly aggressive style that people associate with Dizaster is still out there...just because it's not at the forefront of URL right now doesn't mean it disappeared, I hear Dizaster's influence in a lot of these guys we salute today.

To me, you're making more of a case for them being GOATS more than Mount Rushmore. Mount Rushmore and best/GOATS are two separate convos. The Mount Rushmore in rap for example would have to have Melle Mel in it. But he's not a GOAT. But he revolutionized rap. DNA didn't revolutionize anything. Neither did Tay Roc.
