Weirdly enough, I recall that Iron admitted he wanted to do the 5 rounds. He said it in an interview a few years ago. I want to say it was with Rap Grid and Drect was interviewing him. I surprised that he was semi pushing for it.

It’s not surprising to me at all though. Iron also thought at that time he was gonna run through Mook. I also don’t think anyone took into account what kind of crowd or how big of an event it would be, because it really had never happened before. Nobody today would have a five round battle, especially at the end of the night, but somebody had to make that mistake in the first place. It’s easy to say in hindsight how bad of an idea it was but I can understand why they would think to try it beforehand.

Agreed. It makes no sense. I think it's either 1) The battler doesn't want to help put other people on 2) The thought that "they're not big enough to be on my album"

That's why I was glad to see Surf on Ars' project. And Ace on Twork's.

Crazy that Surf hasn't put Roc on any of his albums. He's been in his music video, but not on a record. And Roc can actually rap to a beat. And I'm not one of them people that think it's a one way relationship, I genuinely think Surf has a lot of love for Roc. But I do feel like it's a case of number 2 that I said.

NWX dropped the ball here as well. They said they were going to do music, which would have been overseen by Rain, but it never happened.

It would have generated way more attention then their solo projects, which I have no desire to check out.

Groups are very slept on in this era. It’s always been a good way to generate attention before branching out to do your own solo work.

At this point Mook is really only good in a setting like the Roc battle. I don't think his rapping style and general approach works well when there's too much going on in the background. His shyt has to be set up like a stage play.

LOL that shyt had me dead. You can tell Lux don't respect them because them type of nikkas he don't feel are from an authentic cloth/really part of the essence of battle rap. Meaning they nerds in real life that put on battle rap personas and became somebody. Imagine Chilla Jones or DNA battling block to block in Harlem in the early 2000s, it would look ridiculous. They just got a corny nikka aura about them.

Nah, if he was just dissatisfied with his performance he wouldn’t have disappeared for THAT long. I think he was destroyed by the whole thing, including the fact that he had hyped himself up so much to beat Mook and ended up being embarrassed. We can talk about how bad Mook’s material was all day but people left saying Mook killed Iron WITH garbage material, which is different than y’all now saying they both had garbage material as though it was Mook vs Reed. Somebody exposing my one nut on THAT level of a platform and throwing skittles in my face in the biggest battle of my career against a guy I wanted to battle and thought I’d give that work to, in the biggest event in history to that point, while my own material is getting booed would probably send me into hiding too.
