It's not that. Organizing takes a RISK that they don't want to take. It's that simple.

Because for all of the guys complaining about a league owning their battles and using them, the REAL solution is VERY simple and doable. Throw your own event and now you're the one with the ownership. But that takes a risk they're not willing to take (some have taken it obviously).

Instead of focusing so much on how to get more from cooking for someone else's restaurant, start your own. :yeshrug:
Maybe, I don’t know the financial statuses of these guys to know if they should take long or short term financial risk. What you said could be a viable option but organizing is essentially a step towards ownership by people who can’t afford to actually own their own means of production. It also speaks to equity in that Smack and Beasley don’t actually create any art, and facilitating the content doesn’t necessarily mean they should get more than those that do. Their financial risk they take is only rewarded via the work of the artists.

It’s clear both groups need each other so demanding slightly more control of what people actually come to see isn’t unreasonable.

Smack is not petty or cutthroat as a business owner in my opinion, and even if he operates from a position of leverage he’s shown his willingness to get people plates even if they’ve dropped the ball (content wise) in the past. But that changes when it comes to creating a rival platform, so organizing is a relatively safe option if done well.

America is capitalism central, Amazon out here telling employees trying to unionize to eat a dikk. It's gonna be hard for battlerappers to pull off collective bargaining because, especially if one of the battlers pull a Hulk Hogan and fukk up the movement. It's not impossible, but it'll be hard.

Definitely in an anti-union era for sure

Obama and Biden labor department (kinda the same thing lol) have been friendly to unions but that’s relative to Bushes and Trump. Def not gonna extend to battle rappers lol

they said jimmy hoffa built the teamsters out of a microphone and a billy club tho :lolbron:

Random but krissy yamaguchi still got it. Coffee Brown standing there watching her knowing she’d get worked over, levels

I’m 15 mins into this and this is way too logical for some people to get it. Jon is so logical, that even if he put everything he had into blogging, I don’t think he would ever get the proper views. The ability to put a side how you feel, and look at things objectively, it’s a hard concept for people in general.

i disagree, if enough battlers are in it and they decide that anyone who violates just gets frozen out of battles they could shut that shyt down real quick

Wow. That was a pretty spectacular Chess.

He sent shots at Eazy. Definetly need to see that. I hope doesn't take an angle about Eazy being in the game for a minute though, especially considering he was greenlighted as a child, effectively skipping the line. nikkas who had to really grind for years not gonna appreciate that one, especially since Chess' whole theme is based around that premise.

Look people are always going to want more and complain about their job. It is what it is.

As long as battlers feel like their progressing every year, they’ll never be on the same page, because some other nygga is complaining.

As the url keeps growing, the battlers are getting paid more money. This is without a crowd. I bet those paychecks are going to look even better with a packed venue.

That’s why I fukk with Geechi. He used their platform to create his own shyt. Dude has his own podcast, league, merchandise, music, etc.

This is what you’re suppose to be doing. He’s uses the resources available within battle rap to grow his brand.

You need someone to shoot a video? Holla at bmagic. You need some beats? Holla at Rain. Network nyggas. Whatever you need is within the community.

Damn nygga what else y’all want Smack to do?

Prep has gotten so much better in the last 3 years

At the same time I have trouble believing him because he’s the only one to ever bump into me at a show and apologize
You can’t be believable in battlerap if you have.... manners?

Got it
all real killers apologize
Exactly, some of the wildest dudes I’ve ever met were well-spoken and had manners
