Can someone link me to a post where y’all talked about folks outside the culture being outraged by this:



I saw it trending a couple of weeks ago but it just hit my group chat and I’m having to explain to folks that I’ve seen worse in battle rap. Rather than start a new discussion I’d rather just go back to where the discussion was had and read what you guys had to say. This thread moves pretty fast.

This isn't particularly notable in the world of battle rap. We will not hear about these people again so why give it energy?

I like Holla as a battle rapper but he’s shown us enough over the years for us to not be surprised by dumb shyt like this. He’s one of the biggest “in the moment” people I’ve seen for a while

Yeah man. I'm glad he made it too but he does tend to be in that moment and go right back to it when he doesn't need to.

Look at her breh. Hitman wasnt getting those type of chicks growing up. He's just proud of himself, and showing it off is worth it even if it fukks up shyt in his life. It's the equivalent of the guy who grows up broke then gets a few bands, stunts on the gram, then gets robbed or something.

See, dude would have to be tested in his next battle (if he even does one) where he cannot use information in a battle. That's the true test of a good battle rapper when it comes to the content. This...it sounds like some private investigator shyt. Or just some weird kind of measuring stick for life that really wasn't called for. If his opponent was hustling backwards to take care of his family that's one thing. But this was not a good angle at all.

There’s still glimpses of the old B-Magic in this battle vs Geechi

I’ve said it before but these rooftop battles with no crowds are my favourite type of battles. Allows to you really appreciate the bars and the ability to rap.

I agree. However, once it started to go viral I started seeing a bunch of people on twitter trying to "cancel" battle rap and shytting on fans of the culture. People who mentioned that anything goes in battle rap were greeted with diatribes about how black men are trash and self-hating.



Even discussing this with my real life friends was exhausting.

Not only that, battle rap is self-policing... His next opponent would fry him relentless for being a self-hating, colorist, c00n. He would get 3 rounds of real talk and his opponent would go viral. That's why I didn't see the big deal and these people from outside the culture trying to police it without knowing anything about it was some disingenuous shyt.
