He said he was just testing the group and they failed miserably. Since the fans are always talking about we're not getting the battles they asked for but not willing to even pay for a battle.
He made a fair point (slightly) and this just showed exactly why URL wont do ppvs. Folks wont pay 2.00 for a battle featuring battlers on the card they like but URL supposed to believe they'll buy a PPV
I mean, either the PPV Numbers were good or they weren't.
I don't quite understand Norbes $2 litmus test since they've already done two pay per views. I have to think the butyrate was decent and they made a few bucks. I highly doubt they lost money
And Norbes point isn't completely falling on deaf ears but at the same time I paid $100 for NOME tickets and $150 for VIP tickets for double impact. That's a pair of jordans. Both events were sold out and lines across the block. People pay for the sh1t...
Just not necessarily to watch a video when they know it will be available free on YouTube
And frankly when you go to a smack event you're paying $100+ to stand on your feet for 7 hours and put up with delays and general mismanagement. It's a fun experience but not enjoyable at times
In general battle rap needs some sort of boost right now. It's stale. For example the Clips Solomon match was cool but something was missing. A good battle but the secret sauce just wasn't there. Right now it definitely feels like the height of battle rap was 2012 - 2014 and the last two years have been stagnant. Leagues aren't growing or doing anything innovative and top tiers are very much in it for a paycheck and nothing else.
