The homie @Ronnie Lott had a thread on the homepage about battlerap.. asking people why they don't listen. I had to take the dog for a walk after this post.

:salute: to Lott for trying... but surely you knew it would turn out this way.:francis:

I was about to go in and rep for Battle rap but after reading all the ignorant comments I just sighed, closed the coli and rewatched Nitty vs Ave thinking to myself 'these nikkas dont even know what they losing out on" :wow:

There are/were several battle rap leagues that used beats. They weren't being supported enough to consistently throw events. So the "they need to battle over beats" argument is false. It's happened, and people didn't care that much. Same thing with people who think judged battles will save the game. It's already happened, those same people that were complaining weren't talking about the team v team judged battle event at all.

I think the disconnect has more to do with battle rap being it's own thing, as opposed to being a gateway to get a record deal. With acapella battle rap being it's own thing, naturally some rap music fans will find it a little weird.

Ultimately, people will come around to battle rap when they hear a battle rapper spitting the stuff they want to hear. Maybe providing recommendations based off of the rappers they like might help.

There's a large segment of the population who simply just find battle rap corny as shyt. I don't think anything is really going to change their minds on it. More people liking battle rap probably isn't going to help the quality of the sport at all though, so I'm cool with it.
