Rex's material was far from ass. Outdated? Yes because battle rap finally moved beyond the point where random "real life" bars were good enough to satisfy the growing fanbase.

To paint Rex as somehow cheating or doing something wrong (as your bolded font suggests) for using mixtape bars is hilarious. As if Clips, Ars, DNA, TODD and other's aren't remixing bars in every battle? You don't want to go there, we can start posting bars.

The T Top battle was debatable (I edged Rex) and he had a good showing vs. Hollahan. But of course because that isn't the current narrative on him he's "straight ass" now. You guys really have to watch these battles and quit running with the current narratives.
Yo every time someone posts an opinion that doesn't match yours you accuse them of adopting a general opinion and not thinking for themself. @Ronnie Lott (from what I can see) commented on the IG post or whatever and you flat out told that nikka to eat a dikk.:russ:

I ain't coming at you for thinking Rex isn't ass, and I wasn't talking about those other nikkas who also spit mixtape/recycled bars (none of them as consistently egregious as Rex, imo). I was stating that Rex came with mixtape bars for years straight. I should have added that it seemed especially egregious because he didn't even TRY to work it into a presentation that felt natural. I don't feel like going back, but nigs were finding entire mixtape verses that he spit several years ago. Faded ass URL crowds were picking up on it within 4 bars that he was on some recycled shyt. It wasn't a good look and it went on for a while.

But like I said. I hope history is kind to him because you're right, he didn't run from the new wave and he even turned in some memorable performances.

You got it bruh. DNA and Clips both "keep something big stashed like Steve Harvey" in multiple battles but Rex somehow the worst offender. Got it.

I'm not arguing it wasn't bullshyt when he did it or that it wasn't wrong. But Clips, DNA, Ars, and TODD ESPECIALLY are just as bad if not worst in their own ways.

So the Myers/BDot release is out.

I'll just say that I was very surprised when I saw what battler opted to plug before the battle. Bold moves, progressive moves, but I was listening initially and not watching. When I finally tabbed the the video I was like :ohhh:

Rex has been holding down battle rap for twice as long as Clips and DNA. Really longer than that, but I know folks don't want to get too crazy hyping the off camera stuff. If I had to pick one of the those guys to cape for, it would most definitely be Rex.
That doesn't mean it's ok for him to be out here zoe-ing nyggas, but again he's done way more in battle rap than the other two. Charlie is older than Rex, but Rex was going block to block killing nyggas when Charlie was scared to come outside.
With all that being said, I don't believe the retirement talk. I think it's a way for Rex to get bigger bags and more iconic match-ups, without showing and proving he's still passionate about battle rap.

It was a lot of dudes on the block battling 15 years ago. Times have changed. It's about who brings it on the big stage.

The last couple years, Clips has been hit or miss but when he's on, it's a beautiful thing.

You can say a lot about DNA, but he isn't lazy. I don't really like dude - but lazy he is not.

Rex does not deserve more iconic match-ups. Not after the BS against Cortez, the diva sh1t against Suge, the horrendous battle against Myers, the recycled/ mixtape bars against Clips, etc etc. He's had LOTS of mid tier battles to prove himself as a top tier quality battle rapper and comes up short every time. Dude dug his own grave with piss poor work ethic, cancellations, and diva sh1t these last 2-3 years. To say he deserves bigger bags and better looks is a travesty. He battled on the black in the early 2000's, so did Benjamin Benz. Salute to Rex but when you fall off, you fall off. Can't put lipstick on a pig.

I didn't say he deserve the bigger bags, I just said the retirement talk was an angle to get them. He's had a really shytty work ethic ever since Total Slaughter.
Ultimately it's all on the match-up, if they can pack a venue with Rex v Reed it's going to happen. You might not go, but some of the "Smack" era fans would.
