I think this is especially more true for the newer guys. The first class of URL guys are pretty known too. There's pre-App and Post App battle rap. 9 times out of 10 if they ask a celeb their favorite battle rappers it's between the Smack guys (Lux, Mook, Rex) or the URL first class (Roc, Shine, Surf, Clips, Hitman, etc..)

There's a lot of guys who watched the URL on Youtube but completely fell off from watching once the battle were behind a paywall.

The App was a great move for them to make money but bad for their overall growth and notoriety.

Ya I was gonna say this. Every still oy knows the vets, I can't count how many times I've heard people mention Cal or Goodz on random podcasts or shows that have nothing to do with rap at all

And in real life DNA is King amongst casuals.
