he only saw superman as an alien with the power to destroy the world, so he thought he was protecting mankind by killing the all powerful alien....also, he was on his lex shyt...he felt powerless compared to superman and didnt like that people viewed him as a god, just like lex felt....also, batman didnt know about other metahumans, he was only focused on superman....lex knew about the others

he thought he could since he used some of his own blood....probably was tricked by brainiac, the ship...anyway, he didnt care about what happened after superman, he was only focused and blinded by the thought of killing superman

And Bruce Wayne gives an entire speech to Alfred on why he wanted to destroy someone as powerful as Superman....



Then the other Meta basically comes to Bruce and tells him that he was right all along

He wanted to kill him because he killed people fighting Zod and felt like superman can't be controlled enough to know when he would turn on humans in the long run.

I said that in my question. I get the motivation. My issue is with the destruction in MOS he was fighting Zod and defending earth. Chalk that up to collateral damage. It's not like he destroyed the city fighting the Joker. As long as Superman is in check they're fine. Batman launching a preemptive strike was short sighted. If Superman was dead and Doomsday popped up who was going to stop him? Superman is too valuable to kill.
