not at all. movie was awful. he was awful. everything about that movie was awful.
That's odd

  • Looked like reeves
  • Classic suit and colors
  • Saved spaceship straight out of comics
  • Bullet in eye straight out of comics
  • Classic Luthor and well acted
  • Worked for daily planet
  • Luthor was main foe
  • Went to space to recharge

I mean it's everything you want in a superman. Unless you're just full of shyt

first of all i just wanted to say that i do not need my superman defined by christopher reeve, he just happen to deliver a perfect performance. singer and routh's superman might have bared visual resemblance but he was completely lacking in every other category. he wasn't fun to be around, he didn't have a larger than life presence, he wasn't charming or humorous... it was like he was a completely different character. he barely even talked or showed any personality. what did lois ever see in this guy?

plus what WAS that movie? a sequel to superman 2? a reboot? what YEAR is it? why does everything look retro? is it an homage to the silver age superman? what the fukk is going on?

i don't see how you can call superman returns "classic" superman. i am more famous than brandon routh.

i later revised my stance in that thread and instead went with the term "classic" rather than "definitive". i would prefer to get the more "classic" batman and superman on screen as opposed to snyder and co's own interpretation.

i don't care about ultron and mandarin as much because to me there exists no classic version of ultron and mandarin. those aren't transcendent characters.
Just shut the fukk up already. Fukken terrible poster.

Charming? Nah. Goofy, here and there as kent. Superman has always been the boyscout that DC has ironically tried to shed.

Right which is why I said he CAN be. He isn't always but there are times when he can be but mostly, he's a straight arrow with a subtle sense of humor but he's not a bastion of personality. But then again, that depends on who's writing him and the medium. Bruce Timm played around with showing glimpses of a sense of humor and a personality that normally came out when he's with Batman or with his parents

Superman CAN be charming, but as superman, not clark kent. But yeah humorous? :coffee:
yea humorous... as in not a lifeless stiff. see superman returns and man of steel.

in the donner movies and in TAS the character actually has a pulse. he has charisma.

to this day people still know the name christopher reeve. not because he was an A list hollywood movie star but because he was iconic in his portrayal of superman. I don't know what version of the character you guys prefer, but that is the version the general public loves and admires. that is the classic superman. the golden and silver age superman.

brandon routh was a shy faq in cosplay. no one bought him as superman. flopped out the gate never to be heard from again. henry cavill literally just played the character on the big screen and he's still a relative nobody. I don't know what else to say. The lifeless superman that doesn't smile and doesn't talk just doesn't resonate. even the most die hard MOS fans admit their favorite part was the action.

Charisma breh? Idk. I feel like that's a bit much. He's a cool dude and all but I never get the sense that he's charismatic at all. Maybe that's because he's with Flash and other characters in the group who do have some charisma to them. But charismatic isn't a word I'd ever use to describe superman

And I'm not even going to address the other stuff you said since we've done that dance already and I've got no desire to continue to beat dead horses. We get it breh, you don't like man of steel and it's interpretation of superman. Cool.
