I think it was a little bit of everything. Pity because she knows he's going through a lot. Jealous because she knows he cares about Martha. She doesn't know how much, but she can tell he doesn't want to have anything bad happen to her. So she was claiming her man. At the same time I think she's still growing to love him. Must be hard to be part of a fixed marriage.
My wife fell asleep watching and woke up to the end scene.
