It also explains why the world nobles get up they have known all along that they were going to need something that would allow them to breath underwater
The World Nobles don’t see “There” world as the same as people living on islands that’s not Mary Geoise

They see the rest of the world as the lower world or the surface

I think that everything but what’s on top of the Red Line will be underwater

Gotta remember how high up they are

Sometimes people create metaphors or cultural reasons to explain the practical ascetics without informing those outside of the know the real reason their behavior exists. Their entire outfit looks like a deep sea exploration suit and remember we seen the world nobles in Mary Geoise and they were wearing the same outfit. I think Oda just revealed why they dress the way they dress. If they went around saying oh we wear this because the world is sticking in the ocean it would make it impossible for the current power system to function but if you say oh we don’t want to breathe the same air as you you can ignore it and keep it pushing. One leads to chaos the other leads to annoyance.

  • Chapter 1.114: "Wings of Icarus".
  • Vegapunk's broadcast continues and he starts talking about the Void Century, although he says he doesn't know much about it.
  • Vegapunk says that 900 years ago there was a young man named Joy Boy who was from an ancient kingdom and had the power of stretching.
  • We see the "Mother Flame" in this chapter. It's a flame that is inside a tank of water.
  • We also see reactions from people around the world to Vegapunk's message.
The chapter should only be out next week. Then we should have a break after 1114. (So spoilers for 1114 this week, chapter 1114 next week, break, 1115. Otherwise it's 1114, break, break, 1115).

  • Chapter 1114 - Wings of Icarus
  • Chapter begins with more reactions from the world.
  • Marines are in shamble and disarray.
  • Akainu is pissed.
  • Doflamingo discusses the news with Magellan.
  • We continue back to Egghead with more reveals .
  • Vegapunk hypothesises that the sea levels will rise 1 meter due to earthquakes to prove this isn't a natural disaster.
  • Saturn goes to try and take care of the Den Den Mushi but comes across Mother Flame.
  • Its a small flame being kept in a huge tank similar to how Vegapunks head was stored.
  • Vegapunk continues and talks about how 900 years ago he flew to close to the sun.
  • Imu is at Mary Geoise reacting silently.
  • Vegapunk declares his second sin as the continued research of the poneglyphs and ancient history.
  • He confirms that he doesn't know everything but he begins with what he knows.
  • As Luffy attacks Warcury in G5 one again, Vegapunk reveals a central figure born in a certain advanced kingdom 900 years ago.
  • He possessed a stretchy body that he used to fight just like the sun god Nika from Elbaf.
  • The name of that man is Joy Boy.
  • He was the man who took to these seas and became the first pirate in history.

This is why I say Skypia is so slept on. Nika been foreshadowed :wow:
Nah that dance scene wasn't a foreshadowing, don't listen to all these ultra fans, they're lying to you :mjlol: Oda said he liked the scene and reused the pose later when he made up Nika.

If Nika was really foreshadowed like that I believe we would have had far more early mentions of him, instead of a out-of-nowhere conversation between Jinbei and a Kaido's henchman 30 something chapter before the introduction. Shonen authors do this all the time, it was kinda the same thing in Naruto with the Kaguya shyt :skip:

There's sun symbolism all over that arc. I think the same symbols from Kuma's backstory. The Skypians worshipped 4 elemental gods. Sun, Rain, Earth, and another. Foreshadowing doesn't mean he had the whole thing planned out of course.

Yeah, Skypeia really laid a lot out, and the sun symbolism goes back even further. Even the first chapter and arc were titled "Romance Dawn."

The sun symbolisms have been there since the beginning. The first chapter of One Piece is title "Romance Dawn", it was also the title of Oda's work that led to what is One Piece now. Oda reused some elements he spread through the story and made "Nika" as a result, who perfectly embodies everything Luffy represents because it was specifically tailored for him. This is the reason why we're seeing so many Nika mentions now when before Gear 5 nobody even alluded to a figure like that, beside the Kaido's henchman I mentioned. He awkwardly tried to have that henchman talk about Nika and how he had a grudge against Luffy to Jinbei to sort of introduce the concept before revealing Gear 5. That same henchman didn't even care about Luffy just minutes before, :skip:

This is not a diss towards Oda, plenty of mangaka do the same thing, but he clearly didn't have this thing planned out since Skypiea. The gods of Sun, Rain, Earth etc are just typical references to Indigenous beliefs in Central america, from whom the indigenous people of Skypiea are clearly inspired. If it was foreshadowing then I'm curious to know who are these other gods then.
