Possibly but the timing doesn’t add up. I could see sacrificing himself being a key part to accessing it though and possibly him staying behind with Shanks is a cover story for them not killing him to get to it.

Just read it over at MangaSee and it's an okay chapter I guess. Clearly just filling in some blanks, nothing really noteworthy outside God's Knights. To introduce a group that's apparently above Admiral at this late juncture is... disconcerting considering Oda's usual style.

If these are mostly characters we already know but didn't realize were in the group then that fits. If it's just a new group that we've somehow never heard of in over 1,000 chapters then it's more like deus ex machina.

They probably filler for the revolutionaries and Luffy's fleet to fight. Those groups have to do something since there really arent enough villains left for the Strawhats and everyone else to battle with at the end.

Dragon mentioned that they have to mobilize God's Knights. I believe it's people who are already out there waiting in reserve that we might already know of, but didn't know they held that position. I mean, one of the silhouettes does resemble Shanks.

It was nice to see the rest of CP9.

That could explain why Shanks went to meet the elders :ohhh:

Yeah but that's not the way they were just introduced. They already had Admirals in the field and said they weren't serious about things until they sent out the Knights. That creates a clear division between the class of fighter or it's a sign of these Knights fanatical devotion.

He's earned the benefit of the doubt with his history but I'm still going to see how he handles this.

I look at it like this... yeah the admirals are there, and yeah they're direct subordinates of the Nobles, but they're still a Marine institution. They have other obligations that could take them away from Mariejois, whereas God's Knights are committed to the Nobles and no one else.

Yeah that's why I laid out possible fanatical devotion as a reasonable option.
