Facts are he's continues to get hotter and hotter despite losing his two major feuds so far. That's momentum. And now, in one show, he's immediately the hottest heel on the roster. That's momentum. Your line of logic would say that Daniel Bryan or CM Punk would have never had their shots at Cena because they were losing feuds and matches heading into it, even though they were getting more and more popular.

They already had won fueds in their wwe tenure and were already world champs.

Aj hasn't won any championships or has won any fueds since he got to the wwe.

More time than not when a wrestler fueds with Cena they're losing the fued. That's why it doesn't make sense to have your first fued as a heel against Cena.

Aj`s popularity has been the same since he's got there. He's been over since he's gotten there.

Popularity doesn't equal momentum. If that was the case then that would've meant Zack ryder had a lot of momentum even when he was losing fueds left and right.

Aj is racking up L`s when it comes to fueds.

And his L's don't mean anything. That's my entire god damn point. He's become MORE popular after losing 2 feuds in a row. Getting more and more popular is gaining momentum. And for this angle, starting it off by swerving Cena and beating the ever loving shyt out of him on the night of his return and leaving him dead in the ring is a big swing of momentum. No one gave a shyt about his loses to Roman and Jericho at any point during that segment with Cena. Not a single person in that arena was thinking "but but but he just lost to Roman, he has no momentum, guys, stop cheering pls".

Like I said popularity doesn't equal momentum.

You can be popular and have very little momentum still (losing fueds a lot).

There is a pretty big fukking difference in the popularity of Zack Ryder and AJ Styles bruh

:usure:

All I'm saying is that popularity isn't momentum. If that's the case then there's plenty of people on the roster with momentum.

When comes to the booking he doesn't really have any momentum.:yeshrug:

And yet, despite not being booked strong (which is fukking ridiculous, dude came in with zero WWE experience and immediately was talked up as one of the best in the world for over a decade, and was paired up with Roman and now Cena not even 4 months into his WWE career), it hasn't impacted his popularity in the least. Nor will this heel turn or losing to Cena.

I'm fukking astounded at how myopic and dumb "smart" wrestling fans are online. People acting like working a program with Cena is bad for your career and paycheck. People outright saying AJ should quit instead of drop falls. Like... :mindblown: ...do y'all people not understand this shyt is fake and he's getting paid a ton of money?
Yeah, unless the book him into some REALLY stupid shyt, he's bulletproof. He's the best or top 5 in the world right now and knows it. He's a guy who never thought he'd get a WWE run and just put on two 5-star matches with the current champ and future of the company, gets to link up with his friends from Japan and started a program with Cena, who, like him or not, has had a longest strong run of anyone maybe ever. Plus he's getting a big check and merchandise money. I'm willing to bet that as an athlete and artist his mindstate is about making this program/match the best thing people have seen in a long time and is geeked about that instead of worrying about the W.

I do agree that he needs a significant W soon, but he's basically a made guy and I PROMISE Vince loves him. Making "The Guy" look better than anyone has been able to yet earns plenty of respect, so they're going to keep AJ in a position to be able to spread some of that around and you can only do that by keeping him important.

EDIT:

Did y'all watch the Seth Rollins documentary they just dropped on the network? There were a couple of interesting exchanges. One with Triple H backstage at the NXT before Mania he asked him about the injury and basically was like get back the sooner the better. Then with Vince after the Extreme Rules return, they got hype in the back from the adrenaline and crowd reaction and Vince was like "You missed that!". Seth straight said "YOU missed that motherfukker!" and Vince agreed.

Meaning, as deep as the roster is, Vince and Hunter were badly hurting for some next tier dudes, so scooping up AJ was a lifesaver. They're heavily invested in him. Shinsuke is going to do some special shyt also.

Sure AJ's been loosimg. But it's been to the two faces of the company. (lol assuming he looses to Cena) Them putting him against those toshow they think highly of him.

If the idea is to put him and Cena on Smackdown, if they bring back another heavyweight title. I bet he'll be either the first or second person to get it.

The thing that kind of bugs me still is that he lost the Jericho fued. That realy didn't serve any purpose other than stroking Jerichos ego
I think they're 2-2 in solo matches although Jericho won at WM but AJ pinned him to become #1 contender the next night so it's kinda hard to say if he really lost that feud

The only feud he indefinitely lost so far is Reigns and he still came out looking pretty good.. Especially that being a feud everyone knew he wasn't gonna win anyway kinda like this new Cena feud

Reigns never beat him clean and IF AJ would've won 1 of the matches, he wouldn't have won clean either so either way they both would've been protected but we all knew Reigns was winning

I was kind of thinking the loss at Mania, gave the feeling that he lost the fued. That fued went on way too long imo. Good point about him pinning Jericho for number one contender. I never really thought about that.

Phenomenal Forearm countered by being caught mid air, Cena either lifts him and does the AA or catches him, rolls backwards and then lifts him and connects with the AA.

This is your finish, file this for future reference
