dog, aframs put work in too many fields of sports for this to even be a debate:beli:

baseball/mlb
nfl
basketball/nba
tennis
track and field
wrestling
swimming
boxing

....Im probably missing some:ehh:
in boxing alone, if you factor for population and GDP per captia, cuba washes US.

Kenyans track medals all basically come from one tribe with a tiny population, and they don't have a pot to piss in. AA are up there but are not the GOATs.

kenya

Kenya first participated at the Olympic Games in 1956, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since then, except for the boycotted 1976 and 1980 Games. Kenya participated in the Winter Olympic Games in 1998, 2002 and 2006. However, their only competitor at these games, Philip Boit, failed to qualify for the 2010 events, and retired in 2011. Kenyan athletes have won 91 medals in total, all from boxing and track and field events. Of those, 61 medals come from the long-distance running events. In terms of total medals won, the most recent Summer Olympics (2008, 2012, and 2016) have been Kenya's most successful, producing 38 medals between them.[1]

:mindblown: im not sure why i have to repeat same point - AA pop is like 30M compared to these other smaller african diaspora, and much wealthier. look at the olympic boxing record of cuba and US, and look at the population and gdp difference. you do realise that Cubans can't compete in professional boxing right?

And your link to kenya is just proving my point how many medals they've won.

yes, if it was a rich country, but it isnt. its ranked in the bottom third of the table for GDP per capita in the world, and so they spend fukk all on sports.

what don't you get about dominance across many fields/sports?

John Charles Robinson

John Charles Robinson (November 26, 1903 – March 26, 1954) was an American aviator and activist who was hailed as the "Brown Condor" for his service in serving in the Imperial Ethiopian Air Force against Fascist Italy. Robinson pushed for equal opportunities for African-Americans during his early career, and was able to open his own eponymous aviation school in addition to initiating a program for black pilots at his college, the Tuskegee Institute. Robinson's achievements as an aviator were in stark contrast to the limited opportunities for most African-Americans in aviation careers, and were an important factor in reducing racially based prohibitions in the United States. Robinson is sometimes referred to as the "Father of the Tuskegee Airmen" for inspiring this all-black set of pilots who served during the United States' entry into World War II.

In March 2014, Thomas E. Simmons was invited to Ethiopia in honor of his biography of John Robinson, The Man Called Brown Condor. The memorial luncheon took place at the residence of H.E. Girma Wolde Giorgis in Addis Ababa.

This year, the US Embassy in Ethiopia has named part of the Embassy garden for John Robinson, erecting an impressive marble and brass marker in the garden. The US Ambassador also honored him with a proclamation.

Ethiopian Airlines, founded by Colonel Robinson, is considering naming a plane after him to give his legacy and historical achievements more visibility to the general public. If this action is approved by Ethiopian Airlines, Colonel John C. Robinson will be flying again.

Known as the Father of the Tuskegee Airmen, Robinson is also credited for training African Americans and Ethiopians to be great aviators. When asked, His Excellency former President of Ethiopia, Grima Wolder Giorgis who was trained as a pilot by Robinson, says in an interview, “He (Colonel Robinson) was eager to make Ethiopians good flyers, and I can say he was a very good teacher in flying.”

There is also a bust of Robinson in the Gulfport, Mississippi airport. He was born and raised in Gulfport, and also saw his first airplane land there when he was but a boy.

An excerpt from The Man Called Brown Condor

Celeste Robinson Cobb (John Robinson’s mother) said, “And you gonna’ have to put away all that dreaming ‘bout flying. It scares me, son, and besides, truth is, no black man got any business fooling ‘round wit aeroplanes. Ain’t no Black gonna’ git a chance to do no flying. That’s just the way it is. You old enough to know that.”

Robinson replied, “I’m gonna git’ me some kinda paying job, save the money to help you and Daddy git’ me to collage.” After thinking a moment he added, “But you wrong ‘bout one thing, Momma. Someday this black man gonna’ fly.”

Colonel John C. Robinson Father of Ethiopian Airlines By Andrew Laurence

There are many people who may claim to be the “Father of Ethiopian Airlines” but few would compare to the courageous and heroic deeds of the African American aviation pioneer Colonel John Charles Robinson, not to be confused with the other African American pilot in Ethiopia named Hubert Julian the “Black Eagle.” Recruited by Emperor Haile Selassie to lead his Royal Air Force in 1934 against an imminent fascist attack by Benito Mussolini, Col. Robinson, nick-named the “Brown Condor” stood up when the entire world failed to take action. He valiantly flew dangerous missions to transport men, supplies and the Emperor himself in the face of fierce resistance from Italian fighter pilots. Invited back to Ethiopia after Italy was ousted, Robinson brought pilots and technicians from the US to help reorganize aviation in Ethiopia and train the pilots that would serve in the Imperial Ethiopian Air Force and future commercial airlines. He also later established the successful American Institute school for elementary and secondary students in Addis Ababa. Not only was John Robinson an Ethiopian war hero but he is also considered the “Father of the Tuskegee Airmen” of WWII fame. In honor of Black History Month, we should recognize his many great achievements and consider a way to commemorate them.

Emmett Chappelle

is a scientist who made valuable contributions in the fields of medicine, philanthropy, food science, and Astrochemistry.

Emmett Chappelle is the recipient of 14 U.S. patents and was recently recognized as one of the 100 most distinguished African American scientists and engineers of the 20th Century. He started with NASA in 1966 in support of its manned space flight initiatives. He pioneered the development of the ingredients ubiquitous in all cellular material. Later, he developed techniques that are still widely used for the detection of bacteria in urine, blood, spinal fluids, drinking water and foods.

Emmett W. Chappelle was born on October, 1925 in Phoenix, Arizona to Viola White Chappelle and Isom Chappelle. Chappelle’s family grew cotton and owned a herd of cattle. Immediately after graduating form the Phoenix Union Colored High School, in 1942, Chappelle was drafted into the U.S. Army. After his service in Italy, he went on to earn an A.A. degree from Phoenix College, a B.S. degree in biology from UC Berkley, and an M.S. degree in biology from the University of Washington. Chappelle pursued his Ph.D. at Stanford University, but did not end up completing his studies.

In 1958, at the Research Institute for Advanced Studies, Chappelle began researching a technique to oxygenize the space environment to ensure the survival of astronauts. He started work at Hazelton Laboratories in 1963 and later joined NASA in 1966. At NASA Chappelle was an integral part of the Goddard Space Flight Center. He focused his research on luminescence. Luminescence is “the emission of light from a substance that has not been heated”. Chappelle’s discoveries in the field of bioluminescence led to a unique procedure to determine if a place contained life.

Chappelle worked alongside Grace Picciolo and invented a method to detect adenosine triphosphate (ATP). He figured out a way to determine the presence of ATP through the usage of a “firefly bioluminescent assay”. By introducing the luciferase enzyme and luciferin (chemicals from a firefly’s lantern) into an environment an organism will illuminate proportionate to the amount of ATP it is using. Through the usage of a photo-multiplier it would be possible to detect photons released from the production of ATP. A low flying aircraft could be used to determine the scope of life on a landscape through photon detection. Since most life as we know it produces ATP to live this method would detect the ATP released through cell mitochondrion and photosynthesis.

If ATP was detected on Mars, it would create an even greater case for life on Mars. Chappelle contributed to many discoveries that furthered NASA’s research and he holds over 14 patents for his discoveries. Chappelle has been honored as one of the top African-American scientists and engineers of the 20th century and received the Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal from NASA. He was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2007.
