the belly of the empire

Coates made an academic, intellectual case for reparations years ago...but it seems like the movement now boils down to a comical, dependent cry of "give me my money." That's not how this works and personally I'd be ashamed to sit around with my hand out begging the United States government for money in 2019.

Can you explain what happened between now and five years ago to change your mind?

Like why it is now getting the traction and attention compared to back then?

The hidden white supremacists like you don't want the poorer ADOS to succeed.

You want to punish them for ostracizing you in childhood.

This isn't TLR

Explain how you think ADOS is astroturf funded

You are quoting random white guys without showing us qualifications

Don't be a smart-dumb conspiracist nikka in this thread

:comeon:
I'm not a TLR poster.

He's literally showing you the data and explains it in the thread.

:dwillhuh:

If you don't understand the data just say that. :yeshrug:

I think it failed to gain traction in large part because we were in the midst of political gridlock, thus making progress on anything this big look impossible...and because the president was black, to he frank. Obama was never going to take on that mantle. Coates has said he was invited to the WH many times and got the impression Obama wasn't opposed to reparations but understood it was impossible. Coates view is basically "yes it's hard/unlikely but it's morally right so it must happen."

It's gaining attention now for a variety of reasons. The left has gotten a lot more...extreme in the Trump years. This tends to happen when an unpopular president is in office and hated by the opposing party (see: W Bush, Obama). All types of ridiculous liberal policies are blindly being pushed right now. Especially universial healthcare. Reparations is similar in the sense that it costs a lot of money and nobody can explain how you pass it or how it will work.

Another aspect...trolls and agitators. Some of the people pushing this stuff are suspect to put it lightly, and they come off as people who are trying to suppress the black vote. I don't think it's going to work of course...didn't work last year in the midterms...but it's still worth watching. I really think we're going to see these fringe YT people endorse a third party candidate next year. Tulsi Gabbard perhaps...

The deflection.

None of this is slander. Nor is it an attack on the merits of reparations or that the recipients should be ADOS.

Carry on though. Just thought you all might find interest in Twitter data showing not all of your allies on Twitter are actually honest brokers or actual people. :hubie:

Now ADOS is responsible for bot accounts? Is this serious? You’re using Malcolm Nance’s guy and he’s a blatant FBI agent. He could’ve easily created those bots himself. But I Can easily explain this

1. Many of the ADOS accounts came over from Facebook. While there are bots many of them were REAL people. There’s bots everywhere on twitter. That’s nothing new. REAL people ended up getting banned from Twitter behind ADOS and have voiced this. REAL people have been banned for bot allegations. No one says anything about this.

2. Many ADOS are just discussing amongst one another and sharing each other’s tweets. That’s literally all that’s going on. The bots argument is outdated. To the point I believe Malcolm Nance (FBI Agent) is starting to make his own bots accounts.

3. Again, Malcolm Nance? The Russia guy?

I read the thread it doesn't explain anything about the data he pulls from at all

All he is showing is a plot of internet activity.

Where is the connection to AstroTurf funding?

You know how stupid you look quoting a random graphic artist?

We've been in political gridlock since 1989? When John Conyers introduced the HR40 Bill?

...and because the president was black, to he frank. Obama was never going to take on that mantle. Coates has said he was invited to the WH many times and got the impression Obama wasn't opposed to reparations but understood it was impossible. Coates view is basically "yes it's hard/unlikely but it's morally right so it must happen."

Obama said it was unfair to immigrants, but he is not the final say on ADOS redress. The US Government made a documented contract via General Willam T. Sherman Special Field Order No. 15 after the war. It boils down to America not being able to afford it.

It's gaining attention now for a variety of reasons. The left has gotten a lot more...extreme in the Trump years. This tends to happen when an unpopular president is in office and hated by the opposing party (see: W Bush, Obama).

It predates numerous US presidents and any current liberal agenda.

All types of ridiculous liberal policies are blindly being pushed right now. Especially universal healthcare. Reparations is similar in the sense that it costs a lot of money and nobody can explain how you pass it or how it will work.

There are people who have outlined this for several years now. Why are you using such a debunked talking point?

Another aspect...trolls and agitators. Some of the people pushing this stuff are suspect to put it lightly, and they come off as people who are trying to suppress the black vote. I don't think it's going to work of course...didn't work last year in the midterms...but it's still worth watching. What happens when you don't vote in your constituents' favor? Keep voting for the same result over and over? Like you said the political landscape is changing.
There are consequences to that. The only new talking point you have is liberal extremism.

It’s silly at this point. Then you got people in TLR clearly trying to bring chaos to the situation with these weird inactive accounts popping up out of nowhere and tying everything to ADOS. Don’t want to make any accusations but something isn’t right with that picture. Might be one of those “mods” behind this trolling popping up. Wouldn’t put it past them.

Same talking points with fake confusion month after month

Strange how NON-ADOS care more about ADOS social capital than we do

Reparations truthfully would irreparably damage that social capital in America

I feel NON-ADOS try to redirect our social capital to things like immigration in pursuit of the 'American Dream'.

The problem now is that our interests are opposed, and ADOS won't let Pan-Africanism drown them.

If the goal of Pan-Africanism is immigration, then they are lost indeed. And have completely missed the point of Pan-Africanism. But that's another thread entirely.

.0001%

Though H.R. 40 is seeing the light of the debate floor, the measure is still deeply unpopular. According to a 2016 Marist poll, only 26% of Americans support reparations. More than 80% of white Americans disapprove of restitution to African-Americans, while nearly 60% of black Americans support the proposal.”

Only 60 percent of black Americans support reparations?

If you’re ados and don’t want reparations, please jump off a bridge :pacspit:

Cowards that are scared of stepping on toes. I hope reparations pushes America to the brink.

You've always had a percentage of black folk who thought some things weren't possible, who didn't want to rock the boat, etc..

Gotta keep it moving in spite of them..

and this country is going to the brink irregardless
