All this Cubs talk has me wondering what happened to Addison Russell?

Done at 25 as a major league player.
Apparently still playing in 2025 in Mexico.

:ehh:

He's gonna have some stretches with no home runs. But, I said it earlier, I think the scouts missed on his power projection.

Why has his hitting declined so much?
Slight decrease in bat speed. That's understandable as he's in his 30s now.
But it's hard to be a good hitter when you can't turn and pull the ball. And Turner has never really been a HR guy. He sort of lucks into them.

He's still a full time player. And I suppose if he can remain aggressive as a base stealer, he's valuable.
I'd say he's a top 10-12 shortstop today. But he was Top 3 not that long ago.

We might be a year or two from the end for Trea Turner.

Offensively it’s getting harder to justify him.
If I didn't have him in Round 18 of my keeper/dynasty league. I wouldn't have him this year. Though in a year or so the taxes to keep him even that late will start to wear me down.

:ehh:

He beat his girl up she came forward with it

The cubs tried to “rehab” him but he was awful + Baez ascended and took over ss that’s when Baez was an all star and 2nd in mvp, Russell became an afterthought and was out mlb a year later

Dude defense was phenomenal

I heard a random baseball name the other day: Pokey Reese.

Another random name? Jose Vidro.
one of my favorite games to play with my boys back in college at the bars. Was either naming random players. Or throwing out a team and going around the group naming people who played for the team. Someone misses they had to take a drink

got one for you Candy Maldonado... if you were like me as a kid. It felt like every time you opened a pack of cards he was in there and on a different team.

But surprisingly only played for 7 teams.

Oh I definitely know the name Candy Maldonado. I wanna say he played for the White Sox but I honestly do not remember. LOL

Ok now that I googled it...he was with the Indians for a while. I kinda knew he was on some Central division team
Or crap...maybe back then it was just East/West.

It was so long ago.
