i dont watch track events like much of all.. but watching this 3000m race. france dude went from leading to now back in the pack
its like 5 or 4 laps to go. is it that serious to worry about losing

Usually. If you are on pace and you drop off it usually means you are tiring.

Recently some athlete prefer to surge from the back in longer races.
