Meant to add that people forget that LSU wasn't the LSU we know til Saban go there... they had 3 10 win seasons from the 60s - Saban and missed a bowl game for 6 straight years in the 90s.
Urban did crash and burn at Jax, but who really could be successful there?
Pederson is a decent coach at worst, won a SB with Nick foles against the GOAT dynasty, and flamed out in record time there.
Does Chicago want or expect immediate success with that line and Caleb's growing pains? Or are they projecting say, 2-3 years down the line.
And if we were to project 2-3 years down the line wit Lanning, even if he stayed in college, who's to say he don't start knockin' off ranked teams left & right like current day Day
My thing is, he's doing something right so far and we have no idea what he'll become. The entire shyt is a risk business at the end of the day.
Lions OC is less of a risk and potentially a higher ceiling IMO
You just want Lanning out of the B1G
Maybe
That whole pick the hottest OC, plug him in as HC (wit a young QB if ya got a spare one) ain't been hittin' like that fr like it was when it was McVay & all his cronies being hired.
Current playoff squads:
Hou - Defensive guy
Bal - ST guy from da family of scum
KC - Big Red wit his rich
PIT - Def guy background
BUF - Def dude
WAS - Def guy in Quinn
TB - Bowles hard def schtick
Det - We already know his def background
That leave LA, Minny & DEN wit guys who got that QB Coach/OC history and that's long tenured mfs fr (aside from McVay) who done seen it all. More than half the teams got def guys at the helm which is why GM dude for bears said he lookin' for a "leader" who prolly be on all day rah rah, I'm an alpha male shyt
Apparently Grubb is kind of a douche and is hard to get a long with so he prob rubbed a lot of players the wrong way. NFL players are divas.I wonder if Grubb will make that call & make a beeline straight for Tuscaloosa. Nick Sheridan gotta be sweating sumwhere. Even if not as directly the OC, gotta think DeBoer would get em in on 1 of dem fancy "Pass Game Analyst" positions. I don't understand it though. Geno played good. JSN had a breakout yr. Fucc does MacDonald want? Lol prolly want it to look more like what it does over in Los Angels wit his old boss and want that run game beefed up.
I saw somebody pipin up McCord the other day ironically enough, saying he's not getting enough love and might be a dark horse QB
Also, how u @L. Deezy feelin??
His biggest win is beatin y'all by 2 in October and getting smashed in the rematch. Just not 100% sold on him is all I'm saying.
Urban looking pretty
How long has he been a coach tho? What's the timeline for expectations?
Saban was jumpin' around for damn near 10 years at Toledo & in East Lansing before really making his bones @ LSU then eventually becoming goated at Bama.
Urban was @ BG & Utah before he bossed up wit da Gators then again wit Nut Nation.
Aside from Kirby being a rare fast track, whatchall really be expecting from sum of these 1st timers like Lanning & Day who didn't grind it out on the chitlin circuit @ smaller schools like the Toledos and Michigan States of the world?

Kylye aiiight, if dan go they can drop money on someone
I mean he won the conference, dude is just a couple key pieces away, he has some good guys but no Capital D dudes
Idk what HC for him will look like
Ayyyoooo
It’s not fair, regardless of the Phil money they still up in Eugene, it’s hard to get kids up there and stay
Urban was not an nfl guy regardless of the destination
Oh yeah he need to cut his teeth but idk about the bearsWon the conference in a year where winning the conference is meaningless just sayin'
I think Lanning is a dope college coach...my intention isn't to rag on him at all, b/c he's elite, probably a top 2 or 3 active coach (at least until this playoff is on-going b/c a new coach will win his first title) All I'm getting at is Idk if the NFL, especially the fukking BEARS, is a good move at this moment.
To me it depends on if he thinks he can win a championship at Oregon or not. Didn't get it done last year and didn't get it done this year. What does the team look like next year idk, but if the NFL opportunity is there, even if it's the Bears I'm not sure why he shouldn't take it. A college job will always be there for him.Won the conference in a year where winning the conference is meaningless just sayin'
