I saw somebody pipin up McCord the other day ironically enough, saying he's not getting enough love and might be a dark horse QB

Also, how u @L. Deezy feelin??

He built for the League? Or will be be another name on the long list of college flops in the NFL, including generational coaches like Saban & Urban. Not going to have a distinct talent advantage in every game besides 1 or 2 every year, for starters.

Bear probably want Lions OC the most. Reinvigorate their offense and damage a division foe in the process.

He has some of that Dan Campbell Moxy working for him, I think..and like him, he'd live and die with his coordinators hires.

He has the gambling of Campbell but he doesn't have the toughness. Lions are a gritty, tough team that has finesse...Oregon is finesse team.

Cambell has players like Jameson Willams lower his shoulder to crack dudes before going out of bounds.

Maybe Lanning would adapt being in Chicago...but Caleb sure hasn't yet :wrist:

His biggest win is beatin y'all by 2 in October and getting smashed in the rematch. Just not 100% sold on him is all I'm saying.

How long has he been a coach tho? What's the timeline for expectations?

Saban was jumpin' around for damn near 10 years at Toledo & in East Lansing before really making his bones @ LSU then eventually becoming goated at Bama.

Urban was @ BG & Utah before he bossed up wit da Gators then again wit Nut Nation.

Aside from Kirby being a rare fast track, whatchall really be expecting from sum of these 1st timers like Lanning & Day who didn't grind it out on the chitlin circuit @ smaller schools like the Toledos and Michigan States of the world? :patrice:

You stupid asl

Saban was good at every stop along the way. He just wasn't cut out for the NFL as most college coaches aren't. Jimmy Johnson and Pete Carroll and Jimmy?... and who else? Barry Switzer? What coach wasn't winning a SB with that 1995-96 Cowboys roster?

What's Lanning's biggest win as a HC? This is his 3rd year. Fiesta Bowl vs. LIBERTY ain't impressing anyone.

Lanning is a great coach, but I don't see some immediate NFL crossover success, that's all I'm saying.

Urban did crash and burn at Jax, but who really could be successful there?

Pederson is a decent coach at worst, won a SB with Nick foles against the GOAT dynasty, and flamed out in record time there.

IDK if Lanning would work well in the NFL.

He seems like a great recruiter and very "rah rah" type of coach. Two traits that work well in NCAA, but are not useful in the NFL (see Urban Meyer).

He does have a good reputation as a DC and defensive mind, but what works schematically and philosophically in CFB doesn't always translate to the NFL. More often than not, it doesn't.

Does Chicago want or expect immediate success with that line and Caleb's growing pains? Or are they projecting say, 2-3 years down the line.

And if we were to project 2-3 years down the line wit Lanning, even if he stayed in college, who's to say he don't start knockin' off ranked teams left & right like current day Day :mjlol:

My thing is, he's doing something right so far and we have no idea what he'll become. The entire shyt is a risk business at the end of the day.
