This was only his 3rd year...I guess they think he can improve?

Big Ten West schedule ain't walkin thru that door

did some more digging. seems like he maybe got a better deal from somewhere and decided to take it but Wisky like "nah dude. you signed for us. you staying put"

BadgerExtra sources contend that Lucas had a signed deal in place with the program and the Badgers believe Lucas must honor it.
Sources said that neither Lucas nor anyone from his camp responded to calls or messages from Wisconsin coaches and staff members for days

Wisconsin’s student-athlete handbook states that the compliance office will enter a player’s information into the portal within two business days of submitting the paperwork. There have been six business days since Lucas’ announcement, but it isn’t clear when his paperwork was submitted. There is not a bylaw specifically allowing Wisconsin to delay or prevent Lucas’ entry into the portal if he indeed does meet the requirements of transfer and has completed the proper steps to transfer.

The exact nature of the deal Lucas signed and the parties involved weren’t disclosed

My b, I thought you were saying why won't wisky let go of Fickel and fire him :mjlol:

But in 2024, stunts like this won't benefit you in recruiting. Dude isn't magically going to say "oh y'all won't let me transfer? let me play as hard as possible for UW!!" and what recruit wants to sign to a place that won't let them leave if it doesn't work out? Dude didn't follow the protocol outlined but still, if he wants to leave then let him leave. I wouldn't want anyone on the team or around the team that isn't bought in

We already had about 20 players hit the Portal Already, so this one is a bit Interesting. Lucas is doing no favors taking to Social Media though to complain about it. Wisconsin beat out Miami and Florida St. when we recruited him, so I wonder if Lucas jumped the gun by one of the teams already inking out a deal.

He'll be gone though.

You a believer in Fickel? I thought he'd be better than he's been there so far.

To be honest. I think Fickell is one of those coaches that is going to quit College Football because of the NIL. He is doing a great job recruiting talent, because Paul Chryst literally didn't have a recruiting department... at all.

But Fickell is seeing the talent that he has been recruiting all year, leave the next because of the NIL... and I think he is one of those coaches that is so used to the old school way but just has no idea how to navigate this new frontier of college sports.
