Yeah I don’t think we ever getting Tim Cook to donate (publicly) as long as he got a seat at Apple. There’s some shyt prohibiting it as I recall. Not as simple as “do they want to donate or not”Not sure where to jump in on this NIL discussion y'all are having but just because a school has millionaires/billionaires doesn't mean that they'll want to contribute to athletics. I can name several schools who's richest donor don't gaf about sports and donate their money towards getting top shelf professors or state of the art buildings with their names on them. Richest FSU alum is Sara Blakely and she donated once and that was to get the school from up under Jeff Bowden's contract. She flat out refuses to support the athletic program, men or women's. She takes up causes like female entrepreneurship endeavors >>> foosball
Look at a school like UGA. They have more donors shelling out $250k /yr than most schools have millionaire donors. All goes back to how invested some of these guys are. Michigan State has two billionaires who are on their Phil Knight shyt but it's not helping them at all on the trail (yet). T. Boone gave OkSt somewhere around the amount of $650MM for athletics. Them fukkers still suck. You can donate all the $$ you want. It's still not enough to get someone to commit to live in that shyt hole known as Stillwater. I'd be interested to know if someone has a tracker or something that tracks stuff like blue chip ratio for transfers.
Probably get one more year
Yeah he definitely needed a good faith upset this year now its looking like these MFs not even going bowling.dude is TRASH looking like he was at ohio state that one year
The Ivies don't care and got out of the business of caring a long time ago. The public Ivies barely care. The $$ coming from non-athlete donors is way longer so why should they? That last sentence would make sense if schools weren't still pushing out $5k - $25k to certain athletes just to come visit their campus officially. It's obvious some schools have more want to than others. That's ultimately the deciding factor. Case in point, SMU. Said fukk your TV $, we just want in. Now they're on the cusp of playing in the conference title game. All the while giving every student-athlete $40k just to participate (which if they were smart, would start allocating that dough differently. The ROI from the starting RB and 4th string back aren't the same).i dont think anyone disagrees …i mean the ivies dont run sports is all the proof you need
what a school can afford and what they actually shell are not 1:1
That’s simply because Texas A&M is called Texas 8-4 for a reason lolTexas AM been in the conference for a minute and hasn’t made the show yet![]()
And to add on to that, some donors are tired of being the go to person when the AD keeps fukkin up the hire and bailing them out of bad decisions (especially if you have little say on who the next person is). If you don't have a lot of those folks already locked in, it's gonna be difficult if/when you have to go back to the well again.Yeah I don’t think we ever getting Tim Cook to donate (publicly) as long as he got a seat at Apple. I think that’s the point for schools like them and Texas. Its like a recruiting pitch they can go to a kid and be like hey you might seat the bench 2 years but your gonna get 40k a year and it also helps in the recruiting for the other schools. That’s kinda what I mean by other schools don’t have money to do shyt like that and tbh that’s really where nil comes clutch because depth is really what wins you championshipsThe Ivies don't care and got out of the business of caring a long time ago. State doesn’t have billionaires but Alabama got more than enough supporters in terms of quantity to be competitive in NIL and all that. At least in the Saban era. They (and us) more liable to also fall off quicker in that department if we had a dry stretch, since it’s more people donating less than say, ArkansasAlabama definitely doesn’t have bread like that Arkansas has bread for pretty much the say reasons Texas and Oklahoma have bread they aren’t really comparable to the rest of the SEC

Big reason why Freeze was almost the default hire in both the post Malzahn and post Harsin searches. He was Yellawood’s guy and Yellawood was done participating otherwiseAnd to add on to that, some donors are tired of being the go to person when the AD keeps fukkin up the hire and bailing them out of bad decisions (especially if you have little say on who the next person is). Yes but that’s kinda my point like even when Texas sucked these mfs were still pouring money in the program. And also to my larger point that while yall can compete on a top player basis it has to be more selective where as the schools with long money can go get whoever and still as @Lucky_Lefty pointed out pay every kid a baseline of 40-50k. For example Texas oline got so good because the nil literally said they would pay any recruit 100k just to come which helped not only attract top tier guys but those diamond in the rough guys like cam Williams who’s now gonna be a first round pick but was a 3 star guyState doesn’t have billionaires but Alabama got more than enough supporters in terms of quantity to be competitive in NIL and all that. Breh they can build nice shyt and still not have bread that’s comparable.
I also think you see it in athletic programs that are good NIL everywhere. Miami, at least with some of these big names they got now, been shelling out money everywhere. Auburn is right in football and a few other programs, but you look at men’s basketball and we’re in the lower half of the conference, while having the best program in the conference. shyts unbelievableYes but that’s kinda my point like even when Texas sucked these mfs were still pouring money in the program.
